    Joe Rogan and Pot

I had the chance to share a bear camp with Joe a few years ago when he was just getting into hunting. Not that I care what people do with their own time, but didn't see any drug use during the trip. On the very last night, after everyone had got their bears, we had a few beers around the...

Tell us about your profile picture

Mine was taken back in November 2012 in the Mount Hood National forest. It was the opening week of our late deer Archery season, but also still fall bear. In fact I had crossed a fresh set of bear tracks in the snow that morning, and followed his trail to within 80 before getting busted and...

    Talk to me about Gaiters

You just have to run really fast. Remo Williams style. They aren't going to prevent water from getting in if you stand in water thats over your boots for more than a few seconds, but the do a good job at preventing any oversplash getting in over the top and keeps the lower part of your pants...

    Talk to me about Gaiters

I like gaiters, but don't take them on any backpack hunts. I find that if I need gaiters, rain pants are the better option. You will soaked walking through wet brush faster than anything, and gaiters only protect up to your calves. I don't want to carry both, and the rain pants are more...

WHY is your favorite (or best), your favorite (or best)?

I don't shoot or rifle hunt much anymore, but I have a few in the closet. My favorite is this beast: .260 on 700 action 30" fluted Krieger Barrel HS Precision Stock Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm Jewell Trigger Why: It's a tack driver The only rifle I've ever shot at 1000 yards So much fun to...

    Oregon Spring Bear Results

First time I've failed to draw a spring bear tag. SW Oregon already sold out also. Turkey's better watch out this year. Has anyone else got 5 emails from ODFW with the results? I guess they just like rubbing it in that I didn't dray a tag.

Maybe we will see Kifaru packs in sitka patterns ?

My guess would be no, simply because Sitka has their own line of packs and it would be direct competition. The other camo pattersn offered Kifaru are from companies that do not produce packs. FL, Kryptek, etc.

Would you be willing to recycle your body at death?

I don't really want to die on the mountain, but if that is my fate it wouldn't really matter to me what happened to my body after I was gone. However, I'm sure my family would like closure and for their sake would hope that there was at least some evidence of my demise. It would certainly be...

    Whats in the truck?

I try to keep my hunting rig outfitted for emergencies, and at least a couple days worth of supplies if I happen to get stuck on the mountain. Here is what I carry in my truck. My rig is a 92 Ford Ranger extended cab with a cap on it, which has been the perfect little truck for me. I have...

Montana allowing use of lighted knocks for archery

I don't have any problem with people using them, but I view lighted knocks as a novelty. Without any other changes to arrow build, they reduce FOC by adding weight to the wrong end. If anything, they are likely to reduce arrow performance. Do they make it easier to recover your arrow? Sure...
