How many arrows do you carry in your quiver Elk hunting?

Carry four or five depending on how far I'm going. Typically only need one, but have used as many as three.

    InReach SOS by mistake!!

Yeah in 2018, on the older device one way or another it became unlocked and the SOS was pressed several times over the course of an hour while I was hiking. I got cell service at the top of a mountain and my phone started ringing...first local response and second my wife (pregnant at the time)...

Good Resource for Field Judging Elk

Jay did a series of instagram posts about this in 2022 that was worth the watch, he showed good live examples of each size bull in 10" increments from 300-400.

You have one shot, one broadhead….

Appreciate the feedback! Will have to see if I can find more info on their wound dissection. Durability seems great.

You have one shot, one broadhead….

How have your blood trails been with these on elk? I grabbed a pack along with a few other brands and have been testing over the past 2 months. Really like the cutthroats -- quiet and group well -- have killed several elk with IW's but looking for something that will produce a better blood trail.

Who uses rope or an area light?

If I am solo and within a mile or so of the truck, I will just walk my pack + weapon back to the truck and dump everything to pick up my shop light and an extra battery or two. Example attached... If further away or with a buddy, I typically just go with the headlamps.

    Camper

My experience with Forest River brands is they are generally built quick and quality isn't going to blow you away. No Boundaries line seems like a good option if you want to stick within the Forest River brand. Jayco makes a higher quality product, they have a few models that would meet your...

Hunting Etiquette. 2 tags 1 week of hunting.

This and what WYTX said. Its great to have other partners in your camp and for help packing out. If you both have experience, hunt by yourself and make your own decisions - should lead to higher success. If your partner has more experience than you, could be beneficial for you to hunt together...

Where are my anti-debt/credit card people at?

I dont understand how this is even up for debate. If you can't afford something with cash or cash equivalent, you shouldn't be putting it on a credit card and letting the balance ride. Lenders want extend credit to people that don't need it and have the means to pay it back. Having a credit...

    First time Western Hunt

I think Traveler summed it up, InReach, boots, pack. First rifle can be really hit or miss with weather. Part of the fun is starting with whatever gear you already have and figuring out what would be worth improving after the hunt, getting to test what you already have and then slowing...
