As far as type of vehicle, for most uses, a pickup that can fit 4 chains will get through most all forest service type road snow/ice conditions.
And experienced can get you through a lot of situation, unfortunately/fortunately there is only one way to get that. I did plenty of shoveling and...
Air pressure needed really comes down to size and construction and weight of vehicle. Most 32ish inch pickup tires won't really start to do anything until 10-12psi. The more air volume a tire has an it the less air pressure it takes to get them to start to work on snow and sand. Pretty much any...
In my experience, no goretex or similarly lined boot is truly waterproof. Even new boots once the leather is saturated will get water in them eventually. But what I see happen most of the time is pants get wet, and water runs down into boots.
Definitely wouldn't replace the 243 barrel unless it needed it. Already have a couple 243s that I load for, just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing.
Looking at a tikka t3 8 twist 243. Plan is to shoot 103 or 108eldm. I do reload. I guess my question is, re barrel another t3 to 6 creed or will the 243 do the same. I understand the premium ammo availability for the 6 creed, and lack of any of the long high BC factory loaded stuff for the 243...
Tried wool for years, just doesnt work for me. Wool does absorb moisture, but slowly, leaving my feet feeling damp all day. Found that I was better off with thick cotton socks or light ones doubled up, changing them when they felt wet. Anymore I wear a cheap syn sock, feet stay the most dry out...
Pretty sad that these areas have a reputation for that....
Have never seen anything other than facebook comments of people being rude
Funny though that the ones that bark the loudest have moved here in the last 10-20 years.....
Looked at an 06 the other day with the v8. 360k Had the timing belt done at 150k and has had nothing but oil changes and a drive belt in that time. It did need front struts and sway bar end links, and the steering shaft u joints were seized up. Pretty impressive though....
These where super popular around here for many years for mail delivery. Saw many go 4-500k with original drivetrain other than brakes and u joints. Water pumps were pretty common as well as rear main seals if they cared about leaks. Always seemed far more reliable than expected to me.
To the OP.
One thing to check on these is that a lot of times the springs are so sagged out that the bumpstops come into play even on minor bumps, creating poor ride quality.
Have seen enough vehicles get 30-40k on an oil change in a years time frame to know that alot of oil is changed that doesnt need to be. These are all vehicles that are making it into the 300k mile range, so cant see that life has been shortened. This is all daily, mostly highway, but work trucks...
Got ran out of their shop a couple times when I was a young kid.....
Used a couple of their knives over the years, always liked them, only one I ever owned got stolen.
