So, how light can a Kimber Hunter be? A build thread.

This is wearing one. Scope is now 5oz lighter Hawke and I'm working on aluminum bottom metal but no way it approaches the weight of yours.

Nice build. I'm late to the party but the Micro cell recoil pads are extremely lightweight (near the foam sandals). Fit up well and absorb recoil as good as any other I've used. https://www.hastingsdistribution.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=338

    Chest holster

As a follow up FWIW, I spent 3 days in the high Unitas with this and it worked very nicely. Holster did swing a little but it would have been uncomfortable if it didn't. It didn't swing free but did move with me if that makes sense. Bottom of the holster was about even with my pack belt. I would...

    Chest holster

It doesn't seem to, lays flat on my stomach. We'll give it a try and see. Straps could be added but it will be nicer if it works without. On that Marsupial Gear pack the molle loops wrap up the back a bit and it dampens the holster if that makes sense. It doesn't hang/swing free.

Something like this I hope will work with everything.

    Chest holster

I have a Kenai for my 7-1/2" S&W Magna Classic 44 mag that works well for that alone. It's too big to run with my Marsupial bino harness. I tried a Hill People Gear chest harness and didn't like it - too hot/sweaty(need to sell that actually). Love the enclosed Marsupial Gear bino setup. The...

    arca-swiss/spartan precision adapter

I need to bring some of these in to try out. How solid are they compared to the ARCA on say a chassis? My chassis is pretty solid set up that way but I do NOT want to do that my nice rifles.

Who’s shooting off a tripod this year for hunting?

I have an Artcise that is quite solid and lightweight. They just came out with another that a buddy has inbound with the smaller, no bowl head. I am excited to see how that one works out.

    Show me your sheep rig

Kimber 84m for me as well. Love the CRF and 3 position safety in a trim little rifle.

    arca-swiss/spartan precision adapter

I'd be interested in the shorter/lighter one as well. ARCA in great on the chassis but no thanks in the fine stocked hunter, especially the Walnut stocks.

Kimber Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor - Let the Project Begin!

This is correct. I think the barrel profile is also the same. The classic and hunter are also the same. Stock, magazine and bottom metal are stock dependent so you'd need all of that as well as the stock.

    28ga Upland Gun

This is well said. and could be extended to the decent Turkish guns IME. They balance and swing almost as well. If you don't care or appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into the finer doubles they may serve just fine. They don't have the same quality, ejectors, fit, finish, etc. but will do...

    28ga Upland Gun

I have a ~decade old Charles Daley Turkish 28ga 28" o/u and for the money it has been great. My wife and the kids (and all their friends) always want to shoot that gun when we go out. The 28 throws enough lead that it will break clays better than a .410 but still doesn't beat you up and inspires...

Kimber Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor - Let the Project Begin!

This one needed to come over a little. First photo shows the arrow shafts after the first epoxy and filled with lightweight epoxy in the 2nd.

I have done a wood Kimber and will be doing a couple of plastic stocks shortly.
