Very cool. I still have those same Hornady, Speer and Sierra bullet boxes. That was pretty much the only ones available when I started. I would be very proud to have that stuff.
Was shooting my Contender (.223) at a range in MO one time at 100 next to this guy. We went down range at a break and I had stuck 5 in a quarter sized hole and he had 7-8 on the paper. He accused me of putting up fake targets and shooting into the sand. I didn't need stay much longer.
If the stands are movable, mix it up a bit. On my property, I have 2 fixed stands, 2 movable and a ground blind. Seems to have been working pretty good lately moving them to different spots..
If you want something a little different, do this. I par boil the heart until tenderized a bit. Then slice it thin and use a 50-50 vinegar and water brine, add a teaspoon of salt per quart jar (or to taste), some raw onion and a 1/2 tsp of pickling spice. It's best if let sit in the fridge...
FWIW, I've had a VP215 for almost 12 years now and have ran 10000+ bags through it. No problems yet. Change the oil now and again and that's all I've done to it.
I do exactly the same. I do all my own sausages and burger. My dad had some summer sausage made with beef fat and I didn't care for it. The taste and consistency was just not right and it tasted just like beef. But to each their own.
Yep. I posted this in another thread but I still have some of the empty IMR metal cans with price tags on them. One of them was $8.95. I kept them for nostalgic purposes to adorn my reloading bench.
I almost crapped myself 3-4 years ago when I needed some powders. Cheapest I could get it for was about $35 a pound. Was in a hardware store last week in Naches, WA and it was $70. I remember paying $9.
