Not trying to define it at all. In my opinion 350 is where i judge it.
Man you got worked up super fast. No one is calling you a douche or attacking you. Great, one of the owners of the site is a long range hunter....it's still a valid question. I hope whoever it is will chime in with his...
No stones to cast. If it comes off that way, than my bad. For me it's more of a fair chase question...does the animal have a chance of getting away by winding you, seeing you, or is his only chance someone misjudging the wing drift..know what im saying???
I dont doubt that it's been beaten to death. Just think it's an honest discussion that needs to be had within the hunting community. Im not saying it's wrong, but i do think there are some inherent issues within the realm of the subject. I
I disagree. Only because i want to know more opinions than the long range shooting crowd. I think it's a great general discussion topic with a broad range of views.
I wasnt aware of that at all. That's a shame that a civil discussion can't happen. I honestly just want to know peoples thoughts without everyone getting all tribal. Hopefully everyone stays civil.
Ive honestly never needed to shoot across a drainage. Not saying i wouldn't, but im usually not hunting monster drainages. Big drainages in Washington would be full of orange to be honest unless you're waaaaaaaay back in there.
With everyone and their mother having access to youtube, a gopro, and guns, it seems like i'm seeing more and more videos of people blurring the line between "Long range shooting" and "hunting". In my humble opinion, hunting turns into "shooting" after 350 yards. If you can't get to within 350...
I ordered a half size bigger than normal for the Tibets, But that's also because i like a lot of room in my toe box. The only time i get pinky toe problems is when i crank the ever living hell out of my laces. With the Tibets, you get the best lace locks in the industry to where you can truly...
Don't forget about good socks either. They make all the difference. Also, Leukotape is a must. My tibets are great, but even they will give me a hot spot when sidehilling a shit ton.
It won't matter how waterproof the boot is, if you let sweat and dew come in through the top. OR Croc gaiters are the way to go. You sound like you hunt exactly like i do. Steep, deep, and with camp on your back. I went 12 miles back this season for my mule deer and my boots were the last...
With Colorado, you might want to get a little bit of insulation. 200G of insulation is equal to a thin pair of socks. I was in 19 degree weather during my elk hunt, and i had to cross a river twice a day. The Tibets were outstanding. Not a single drop of water through the boot. Gaiters are...
If you're doing a bunch of side hilling stick with leather. I've had boots that were synthetic, and when you're side hilling in rocky country, it will absolutely destroy a synthetic boot. This past week i had a 168 LBS pack on and if i had any lesser boot than the Lowa Tibets, i would've been...
In my opinion, I've never gone through a day of hunting and thought "Damn i wish these comfortable boots were lighter. 100 percent check out the Crispi Nevada, Lowa Ranger, and Lowa Tibet. All three of those boots are going to get you through 99.9% of the hunting i would do. What kind of...
Ultimately it's going to come down to fit. If i were you, i would see what the boots feel like after you've been walking a few hours with weight. my feet swell and i have to have a Wide and extra room in the toe box in order for them to fit throughout a hunt. The tibets win purely on comfort...
The fit is what won out for me between the Tibets and Mtn trainers. The Salewas feel amazing as long as my pack is below 30 Lbs. Once i get above that, my feet flatten out and i start to get jammed toes and my metatarsals start to get busted up pretty bad.
The Salewa Mtn Trainer didn't stay dry for more than a week. They leak like crazy so far. The tibets have 100 percent waterproof. Where i hunt in Washington, I have to cross a river twice a day. Never had a single leak in the three years i've been running them. I think Salewa makes a great...
