    Shot two does last night, one at around 160 the other closer to 200. Both shots were hard quartering to. Both ran roughly 60-80 yards. Slight blood trail, no exits. Both from a 16" AR. Any guesses on what 556 bullet I used based on the pictures?

    I shoot 143 eld-x because that's what my gun likes. More meat damage than I would like but it drops stuff.

    We found an area closer than that with a bunch of elk, but so did everyone else, on the opener I had rounds going over my head, fun times.

    If you're cool with shooting a cow late in the season, I think there's good hunting in the area. If you're looking to be by yourself and see a lot of critters you're going to have to travel.
