I have the Nikon 4k black and absolutely love it. Glass is clear, controls are easy and the range return is really pretty good. I have ranged over 2000 yds with no problem.
I think many of us have compared the Exo and Kifaru. I went with the K3 6400 and really love the simplicity. I prefer to pack using individual bags inside rather than have a bunch of sewn in organization, plus the Exo overall was quite a bit lighter than the Kifaru. The Exo 6400 packs down...
Like many, I too have both a floored free standing tent and a tipi. I absolutely love the space in my tipi which is a Seek Outside Cimarron, and I put a LBO nest inside which gives me more gear and movement space. Also, when I put the stove (not yet purchased) inside I like the fact the nest...
I don't own any of the 3 listed, but after reading hundreds of posts on Rokslide if those 3 were my only choice I would go with Kifaru. I own a couple of Eberlestock's, but I use those mostly for daypack trips. Long range I run an Exo K3 6400 and absolutely love the pack. Dig around on this...
Concur with everything above. Have used propane in the little green cylinders for years in CO everywhere from 6500-10000'. Obviously at 10k it takes a bit longer to boil, but my stove is a 3 burner with 1 that is 15k BTU. Our other setup is to run a large worthington tank (like the ones you...
No. I don't have the stove yet, so my info is the Cim without stove, but I can set the chair back and right just a bit off the pole. I have the LBO nest on the left side of the tent. The Helinox is only about 11" off the ground if I remember correctly and I am just under 6'.
Is that a Winnerwell stove? Looks like it. I am very interested in that stove vs the SO stoves. How has the Winnerwell worked for you? Sorry, just saw above you identified it as Winnerwell. How do you like it? It is more expensive than the SO stoves, but I really like the no nuts and bolts...
I am likely echoing many others on here. I have the SO Cim in DCF and I use the LBO nest. I primarily use it for solo backpacking and it gives me a ton of space obviously. So much that I can put my helinox chair inside with all my gear and a stove and watch it rain outside. If you don't run...
I too went SO and WM. I did the Cimarron in DCF and a Versalite bag. I am curious to hear about stoves. I was also thinking the SO U Turn Medium, but stumbled across Winnerwell where it folds together rather than having to assemble it. I think the weight is a fraction more than the SO, but...
I should close this out with I ended up going with the WM Versalite from Hermit's Hut. The bag is exceedingly well made and I have stayed in it a couple of nights. Headed out tomorrow for an overnighter at 9200'.
Check Ivory Holsters, I like their clip system and of course the made in USA label. I believe they can customize anything you are looking for pretty easily.
Are you saying the Steripen was the only method that effectively treated the water? My understanding is if the Steripen is used on cloudy water or water with foreign particles in it, it is not effective. Plus I wonder what the relationship is between battery power and effectiveness.
I have a Leopold on my 300WM, a Vortex on my AR-10, and a Nightforce ATACR on the precision gun. The leupold definitely needs updating as it is old, but it is still a great scope decades later. This would be a tough comparison to do simply because there are so many options out there and Im...
MSR Trailshot modified to add the Rapidpure filter on the pickup end to filter viruses. Takes an extra minute or three to fill a Nalgene, but I would rather spend the extra time crouched next to the stream as opposed to crouched over or sitting on a toilet. I use the Katadyn tablets for backup.
Look at Seek Outside. I did the DCF Cimarron with a LBO nest and I am shopping stoves right now. I looked at all of them HMG, Kifaru, MLD, Tarptent. The SO is absolutely flawless with straight seams, smooth zippers, and no weight for a huge tent. It is a tipi style without floor and if you...
I have an Eberlestock I run as a daypack and I put the hipbelt on it. Can carry accessories and of course pistol and extra mag or two. Throw a small belt pouch on it for chapstick, sunscreen, and a bandana. I have never noticed the heat.
