So if you have no experience with either, is your point just that you wanted to post?
I think it would be pretty tough to argue Tikka's don't have the best OEM action, I guess other than a Sako TRG. That and the decent barrels you are getting (better than decent on the CTR/Varmint) is the main...
Its pretty much common knowledge (at least in most people's experience on snipershide) that Tikka has slow, yet very accurate barrels... this is of course discussing the CTR / Tac A1 barrels mostly. And its comparing it to a quality aftermarket barrel - not to another OEM.
You can load long...
@Beendare said it above - its not the same as it was 10 years ago... and when I look at the numbers, all I see is it getting worse. Both in cost and point creep.
Unless my math is wrong, Montana receives over 5x the revenue from their out of state elk tags than they do their in state sales...
Agreed - You never did mention world class in your OP. I was merely agreeing with your initial post in my response and leveraging it to mention that, although AZ is known for world class deer and elk, you definitely have to apply smartly, and you cant necessarily have your cake and eat it too -...
You can come at me all you want, and be snarky as hell - but I was making a point in relation to states that are pure opportunity states, which AZ is not. And AZ strictly manages numerous units for world class elk (and muleys). We all know that. That was the point I was making - its a fact...
Haha apply "smartly" should definitely be stressed here. If you want to apply for opportunity you can, if you want to apply for world class elk or muley you can, but not both.
We aren't an opportunity state like MT, ID, etc. But AZGF does a great job with the resources we have.
230k on my 100 series.
Like every vehicle it needs routine maintenance, but they have very very few inherent issues.
Prices are creeping up for clean ones tho. Get em while you can.
I loved my Rival LD, but even though I could get it to about 31.4" it wasn't long enough for me. It really sucks they didn't make the 5 able to go to 32" DL. Big let down for me as I'd like the opportunity to shoot another Prime bow.
I'll keep shooting my Evolve 35 and see what Mathews comes...
I know of people that do (@RoJo iirc?) but I don't, at least in Southern AZ. It's not that much weight to save if you have even middle of the road equipment these days, IMO.
Great review. I havent tried them all myself, but I seem to find that the hiking related companies that make quality stuff (REI, Big Agnes, Thermarest, etc) sleep about 5-7 degrees above their rating for me to be comfortable in them. Like you, I also sleep on the colder side.
WM and FF sleep...
In NY the last thing he really needs to concern himself with is great glass.
OP, are you thinking of hunting the catskills? I grew up hunting NY. This forum is mostly for western hunters.
Well - that proposal is literally the definition of a conspiracy theory, so...
Guys, just a general comment. When you want to convince a centrist of something, its usually better not to call them idiots and label them anti-hunters, especially when they are fellow members of a hunting forum.
I...
Seems to me like AZ OTC archery deer is really hyped right now because of podcasts, YouTube, etc... But this hunt is really hard. I wouldn't be traveling out of state for this hunt unless I had an unlimited amount of OT and I HAD to go hunt somewhere in January.
Yeah, but it goes the other way... For quick, one day stuff I'll grab my Arcteryx Brize. I considered all the small hunting bags, and I would have gained very little but they were 3x the price... And there are features of the Arcteryx I prefer the hunting bags didn't.
However, if I ever take...
That really stinks. Although I did not own one, I tried their old belt when I was demo'ing packs and didn't like it much. Conversely I like the new belt a lot for me it didn't really lose anything to the Kifaru. Like you, I love the SG bags, they stand out in a crowded marketplace these days...
Not necessarily on your topic, but which belt do you have for the SG? The newer designed belt (circa 2 yrs ago or so now) seems to be universally thought of as more comfortable.
Sorry I'm not adding much, just thought I'd mention it.
REI quarter domes are pretty light and you can always find them on CL for cheap. I paid 150 for a 3p a few yrs ago, probably had been used 10 times and it's held up fantastic.
They are a really good tent for the money if you go used or close out. If not, I'd go with an MSR, I prefer them...
