19 days until the match and my barrel just sudden dropped 20fps and started opening up, so that's exciting! Luckily I have a new one ready if its indeed giving up on life.
Question for anyone that has shot the match before. My rifle currently has an NX8-4-32 on it, and it's a great scope...
What's everyone use to carry around 100+ rounds of large caliber ammo? I'm shooting 300 Norma, and have some 50 count boxes, but they are pretty bulky, and carrying 2-4 of them would take up a lot of pack room, just wondering what others are using.
I may bring a second rifle, it would be in 6.5 creed, but at least at 1200 and in I would be pretty confident, at least be able to keep shooting if I had a critical failure.
Mine is on a lone peak razor, it's a great balance. It's a razor, 26" proof sendero, piercision titanium brake, manners lrh with mini chassis, Hawkins dbm and am nx8 4-32 f1 and comes in around 10.5-11 lbs.
Hearing this a few times has me concerned. I'll have a backup scope, but I'm considering bringing another trigger too. I'll definitely be carrying some canned air to try and clear some dirt between stages too
I'll be there! First time shooting it, will be in the hunter class with my 300 Norma. @Ryan Avery been loving the podcast episodes covering the match! I've shot some PRS but nothing this far.
They did say on the phone that some of the first ones had a bad batch of batteries, so the first one would die quickly, but subsequent batteries had much longer life. I'll definitely be carrying extras with me, but I'll have to see how it holds up to 6 days of use next week.
Follow up, vortex wasn't sure what was going on. However, I let them know I was bear hunting this weekend for 6 days, and they decided to overnight me a new one so I not without. Really love the customer service!
Ran into my first potential concern today, has anyone else noticed an incredibly short battery life even with Bluetooth off?
I went shooting yesterday and noticed the battery that came with it was dead, but I had pushed some updates and done some programming and quite a bit of scanning on it...
No, but with the wind vector, and with enough practice you can definitely get a very good wind solution. I'm by no means a wind expert but I do practice calling wind a lot, and 100% will still carry my kestrel and verify/use it as time allows, but I was able to get quick results within an...
Used mine bear hunting Thursday, and used it side by side with my kestrel. The solutions were spot on, and I was very impressed with the speed of returning solutions and consistency.
