I have a lightly used Ranger Green Exo K3 pack system I would like to sell. Frame height is their K3 small (I run it in the tall setting all the time) the hip belt is sized small. The bag is their 4800 with horseshoe zipper. This includes the lid. I am also including two hip belt pouches as well...
It’s kinda dry but Training for the New Alpinism is a book directed towards training for mountaineering - which in my opinion is the most similar to elk hunting for a main stream sport - especially for less technical mountaineering goals. Their approach is pretty science based and wasn’t what I...
I love my k3 but I think I am one of the few that still experiences some slippage on the hip belt even with the firmer foam and shim and will eventually get my hands on a k4 but I was curious any testers still have a pika frame they would part with? Sounds like those really stay up!
That’s what I figured. I think it would be an improvement for everything I currently use the side pockets for with the exception of that rifle sleeve. Which is pretty rare anyway.
Do the new side pockets open at the top? I like having the ability to slide my whole rifle down the side pocket when I am not gonna need access to it. Keeps it up and well covered and protected.
Looking to take the plunge into reloading for my 300 WSM hunting rifle. Don’t care about speed or high volume at this point. Just repeatability. Let me know if you have some quality basic stuff you are parting with.
Built a new rifle and now I'm selling the Mavin RS1 2.5-15 I had on my old set up. I have the Wyoming arms exposed elevation turret with it. $900 OBO.
Reticle is their Simplified Hunting Reticle, which no longer seems like it's available.
If wanted I have a set of Talley medium height rings...
We didn’t end up making it happen this year. A bunch of us bailed at the last minute. Related - I just learned about a route called the pfiffner traverse that really appeals to me. 78ish miles so qualifies more as fully size death hike but I am definitely gonna give it a go in the next year...
Thanks for the suggestions. I would prefer to do something in the hills and get that up and down and even be off trail. That way it would translate more directly to hunt training.
Wondering if a few people local to the front range would be interested in arranging and planning some sort of challenging off trail hike or series of hikes. Maybe some of you are familiar with the Exo guys and their Hunt Backcountry podcast and the Death Hike (as named by them) that they do...
No I don’t think so but if you it were a bit higher it could right? I also don’t have a good grasp of how the skeleton can move around depending on their actual position.
How was the shot in terms of up/down hill?
Right maybe not. I think worth messing with arrow set up before next year. After all his first and most important principal is integrity of the arrow - even if it hits something hard it shouldn’t be breaking.
Just spit balling here - Could the arrow have penetrated the scapula and then as the shaft whips around as it starts to pass through broken off? That would maybe explain the broken arrow and possible lung hit.
That’s rough!
Are you guys familiar with Ed Ashby and the arrow set ups he is recommending. Think he’s right that one of his set ups would have gone through the shoulder in a scenario like this (if that’s in fact what happened).
