I had a Jackrabbit on my previous F-150 and was very happy with it. I have a Retrax on my current one and am happy with it as well. Between the two is a bit of a toss up - IMHO, both are really good. The downside to the hard top retractable is that you lose some bed space, but for me it is...
I put mine in a small game bag that I carry in case I manage to get a Grouse! In the area I hunt it seems to be every other year is either a bumper crop or bust!
I've never had an issue with the meat spoiling even after shooting a Grouse early on a warm Sept day in CO. One thing, check your regs as CO for example requires you to keep a wing attached while in the field.
I haven't actually killed an Elk in the rain, but have had a couple of the best elk hunting days in my life chasing them in the rain! ~2 years ago I was out in a complete downpour (not typical in CO) in the wee hours. The Elk were going nuts with multiple bulls with cows sounding off all...
I've been shooting Iron Wills for a few years now - Love them! I've tried both solid and vented and to be honest I can't tell any difference. I'm sure the solids are quieter, but I for one don't think it's night and day between the two. I'm planning to use the Wide this year as I'm all for a...
+1 for the knife. I don't have the saw, but the knife works well and I prefer it over the Havalon as it's much more durable and the larger size / weight (still not overly heavy) makes it easier to manipulate (IMHO).
My .02 .. lubing up shafts of carbon arrows makes a world of difference! I have used the Arrowjac and it does work, but it can still be challenging and IMHO isn't worth the $$. For something affordable and portable, I will second the DD Arrow puller. But again, lube your arrows and your life...
I also ordered on 6/19 and still waiting for a delivery notification. The good news is that business looks to be good for Kifaru, which is a positive when so many business have been hurt by the COVID fallout,
I have used Steve's and they are very good .. but pricey and you're not getting back your animal.
+1 for 5280, which I have used the past two years. Less expensive (compared to Steve's), great quality and you get your animal(s) back. They do take a bit longer, so for Burger/Sausage/Jerky...
I am shooting the RX-4 Ultra as well. I have the 70-80# limbs. I will say that the RX-4 cam isn't as easy for me to draw as my RX-1, which is like butter and seemingly effortless at 70#. I have shot my RX-4 at 80#, but it was more challenging for awkward) sitting flat on your butt with legs...
