I agree with other posts that wearing as little as you can get away with is ideal. Where I have found it more challenging is when it's already snowing and/or you have lots of corn / brush / dense foliage to navigate (hopefully not overly close to your stand or on a deer trail of course). This...
I just shot a Nanny here in CO two days ago. Sadly there is a state wide dry ice shortage and I had to use 3 * 10 lb bags of ice, but my 4 quarters + cuts bag and cape all fit inside an RTIC 65.
I switched from Steve's to Rocky Mountain Meats in Wheatridge a few years back. Significantly less expensive and you get your own animal back. Steaks come back in a matter of days, but you will have to wait a bit longer for sausage and such. Not a big deal IMHO, just an FYI.
Steve's has...
The Broadheads fly the same for me! I should further clarify that I've actually shot Vented / Solid and am currently primarily shooting the Solid Wide's. They all fly the same to me out to 60 yards. I purposely carry a single mechanical head in my quiver with the sole purpose of a 60+...
Ascent Fly Fishing. Pete Stitcher is a Biologist here in the Denver area - https://ascentflyfishing.com/
I'm still a relative newbie to fly fishing and have found his website / youtube video's etc ... very helpful as well as help with Fly selection, matching the hatch etc ... For anyone in...
I have shot whitetails within this range with vented and solid (100's & 125's for both) and cannot see any noticeable difference. I practice with my BH's to 60 yards typically and can't tell any difference. I went to solid's for the sound aspect, but honestly I can't really tell.
I would strongly suggest you look at a Tier1 Concealment holster for Appendix carry. Far and away the most comfortable that I have tried and I sadly have a box of holsters that I have tried and then tossed into the box. For strong side the Milt Sparks holsters are amazing. I don't know what...
I can't answer your questions directly, but I did hunt 87 archery a few years back. What I can say is that hunt during the week if possible as the weekends were a zoo and between people target shooting about anywhere they please and pretty heavy traffic on all the roads .. it was challenging...
To AZ_Hunter_2000's point ... I have gotten very cold in Alphaburly 1600's. What I learned is that dress way down for the approach, including socks. Then change into your warmer socks at the base of the tree so that you begin dry. Sucks in the snow etc ..., but made a big difference. I would...
My .02 is that you night get lucky and have enough layers, but I would suggest adding some warmer layers as well. Last year for example in the first week of Nov I had 6 straights days of snow and sub zero temps, the same was the case two years earlier and a week earlier. Both years had at a...
Assuming the courses are anything like last year (a pretty good assumption - IMHO), you will find challenging shots on everything beyond the kids course! Dudley hangs out on the Nock On course and tries to shoot a few targets with every group. Super nice guy and he makes it look way to easy...
Ascent is very high quality and tastes good as well. One of the lead engineers behind it is a buddy and a hunter as well. I've tried Chocolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter (current favorite) and Vanilla.
I found the weight to be more noticeable over the extra 2" of the 12" bar. I hear you and for the same reason, I've started out carrying the backbar, my groups are noticeably better! I'm shooting an RX-4 Ultra, so also 34" ATA and I'm setup for accuracy versus weight savings as well. Just...
I love the way both 10" and 12" back bars feel, especially shooting in the wind. What I dislike is carrying / packing the darn thing. I'd be OK with it for tree stand hunting, but also feel less need as I'm not likely to shoot very far ... I started the past two Elk seasons with my back bar as...
Thanks all. I pulled the tripped on the Swaro ATS. Cabelas had a 10% off online coupon + my Cabelas Bucks ... knocked a grand off - Done deal! I still need to decide on a tripod and head and greatly appreciate all of the insights from folks here!
FWIW, I have both a pair of Sheeps Feet and an older set of orthotics from my Dr and now a new set from my Dr. The reason why is that I ended up with a new set from my Dr, is that I did the DIY kit from Sheeps Feet at home and had issues. One of the footbeds was off and I ended up with a deep...
You guys are a ton of help - Thank You! Another dumb question. It seems like ARCA is a pretty common mounting interface between the spotting scope and tripod head. Any Do's / Don't in this regard? I see base extensions and a slew of options. For something like the Kowa 553 or Swaro ATS...
Thanks for the feedback thus far guys! Very helpful and I will definitely look at Kowa as well! Is Outdoorsmans stuff built to survive a nuke or just more expensive? The Aoka/Oben pricing was more along the lines of what I was expecting (hoping) to pay.
