Shameless plug for my 15x Canon for sale :), but I can also speak to the 16x SIG if you have specific questions.

Bought new in November of 2022. No issues with glass or function, just downsizing my optics collection and focusing more on compact optics for travel.
$825 net to me, shipped to your door.
My impressions:
The Canon has a very flat and sharp field, that is usable nearly to the edges. Very...
Purchased in 2022 as a factory sample, with the full Swarovski warranty, inspection, etc. Based on serial #, these were made in 2018. I never registered the unit.
I never thought that I would sell these, as the image quality is stunning to my eyes. No issues with glass or function, just...
Awhile back someone called them "Rokbois". Cracked me up.
I don't have a problem with formi's info. A lot of times it jives with what I have experienced and the regurgitating of information by others is to be expected. The problem is when they post information as authoritative, or as if it...
It is actually a very common approach across industries, systems, processes, etc. The best practice is to perform an application specific analysis. If the risk is too painful, it gets mitigated. If painful but unlikely, it might just be accepted. Where it gets tricky is when operator error is...
Sorry for the thread rewind and change of topic. Been away for a few months and getting caught up on all the S2H and Roksliding.
Anyway...
formi, with all due respect, that statement above is not completely true. Regarding Sakos, at least.
The S20 had a known feeding issue when released...
FYI - if you do decide to go 22LR, I would check the crimp as the heeled bullets on some loads will actually spin in the case by hand. If the bullet spins, then it's obviously a path for moisture to enter. Many 22LR are actually pretty good and will survive a dunking, but not all.
A grouse...
What you posted there is not completely correct. I have better than 20/20. Just because anyone has corrective lenses, and can legally drive, it does not mean that they can see what I see. And others can see more than me.
20/20 is at the bottom end of the "normal" range. Best possible vision...
formi,
Correct me, if I am wrong here. This is what I am getting from your suggestions:
Situation - performance problems in the field
Solution - less magnification
Result - improved performance in the field
So, root cause is = ???
What is the true root cause of the problem with your...
I don't take it as arguing at all. Thanks for the detailed reply. I mean that, man. I think that we've posted on this stuff before Rokslide, if you recall. I've benefited from it.
I'll reply to some of your comments, and hopefully it flows. We are probably more in agreement, than...
Yeah, that post may not have gone across well. Either way, "long range hunting" is not for me to define.
My response, that you quoted, was to a member that came to the Long Range Hunting forum, who made a comment about wanting more magnification (20x - 25x) and gave his reasons why. The...
It's the "Long Range Hunting" forum, not the "medium range and under" forum, so I totally understand wanting 20x or more.
I have never hunted the Snake proper, but the adjacent breaks and drainages. And the coastrange. The coastrange is brutal!
I would really like to continue that topic, so will only "clutter" the thread briefly and maybe take this discussion offline?
The sensitivity of the receiver (retina) is variable between individuals as well, correct? And across the retina. So even if the defects in the eyeball are corrected...
Thanks for the detailed reply, formi.
The examples that I am referring to are not all "new shooters". So this is not a "think" or "feel" issue going into the situation.
Perfect example is a good friend that has been shooting with a 6x MQ since August of 2015, based on my encouragement. He...
Some dudes just can't see well behind a scope, even if they pass an eye exam. Maybe it's an Oregon thing!
I just ignored them and told them to shoot. Even showed them over the years how 4x was plenty for 500. Or a red dot at 300. I should have just listened to them, and I would definitely...
You're not crazy for wanting that. It sounds like you want a "crossover scope" or whatever it is called now. There have been polls at other sites, and IIRC something like ~4-20x seems to be the most requested.
Some thoughts...
I shoot with guys that have zero desire to have a 3-15x. They...
Man, all that freaking effort by Mr. Avery and Formi to get Maven on board with this, and some want lighter and others want more magnification.
On a more serious note - add me to the list of whiners!
I would rather have less features and lighter weight for less money - $700 to $800. An...
Awesome, thanks for the updates.
Bolt stop pin failures don't seem super common with that design, but obviously it could be improved. Thanks for sharing.
Was it new or used, or do you know why duty was charged?
I've seen some of the duty fee warnings, but it doesn't always seem to apply in every case.
Maybe over a certain claimed dollar value?
