Gritr shows the Zulu6 in stock and on sale, for 30mm and 42mm models.
I'd imagine Labor Day sales are just around the corner.
$1500+ for the 50mm seems steep to me, unless the optical quality has improved.
When I was using Timneys (single stage), I would set overtravel to the max. Opposite what many people have been led to believe, that you want a solid "wall".
I don't have any 2-stage TT, but the single-stage TT that I have is the least reliable for freezing compared to a Timney single-stage...
Here's an idea...
Get Jeff Huber, Formi, Ryan, and Unknown Guy on the podcast. If possible, add someone knowledgeable about actual scope design and limitations.
I get your message. In Jeff's defense, he is not an engineer. He's super knowledgeable, and knows what questions to ask, but he's not the technical guy that some claim him to be. I don't think that he has ever claimed to be a scope expert. And I have not heard or read any wild claims from...
If you have sunshine, just simulate a worse case scenario with your viewing direction and angle. You just need some direct light to enter the objective. Takes seconds to check.
I just compared the 8x32, 10x32, 8x42, and 10x42 NL. The 10x models were my favorite even though I generally prefer...
I think you are approaching it with a decent perspective.
Are you sure about seeing the ear flick at 1.5 miles though, with a 10x?
Just keep in mind that a pleasing image (i.e. from NL) may encourage one to view more. Viewing more may reveal more. Seeing more increases confidence. More use...
The Kowa 663/664 is a decent scope, especially if you get a good one. It's fairly light but sizable. Many people prefer the fixed 30x over the zoom. I had both with the 664.
I agree with some of the other members who suggested using what you already have.
That said, every Vortex spotter that...
You don't need to believe me or anyone else - go see for yourself!
It has been mentioned by astute users of optics. There are design reasons for it, but that's beyond my realm of expertise.
See if it matters to you or not. There's no right or wrong answer, just that they are not perfect or...
Outstanding, JGR. This is great news.
I know how much you appreciate the last SLC overall.
Wide FOV and good glare control, especially for a 32mm, is a bit of a unicorn!
I "downgraded" from Swarovski a few times.
Short story:
Once simply due to cost vs optics. Twice due to glare or stray light control issues.
Long story:
First was 10-15 years ago with the latest and greatest 8x30 SLC. The overall image didn't agree with my eyes, but I also saw a lot of...
16x HDX that I tried had good resolution in the center of FOV, but it doesn't have a flat image if that's what you were hoping for.
Some have reported that the sweet spot is off centered. I had the non-HDX and there seems to be less color fringing with the HDX but I didn't compare side by...
The new HDX has tan colored armor, and the original is grey. The big sporting goods stores may have both on display. My local SW had both for awhile.
Opticron has its version out as well. Same OEM, I believe.
