In my opinion, the short answer is - it depends! The Cross uses a barrel extension and barrel nut. There could be issues, but I would be more concerned with the rail mounted to the top of the receiver. Have you checked yours for fit and fastener torque? If you remove it, look for any signs...

Wicking grade Loctite

I think Loctite just has the one. There are other brands for low strength but I have not used any of those.

So, you went smaller caliber, but not down to .223…

I went to a 7mm-08 in 2013. Started with the 120 NBT, mostly due to Steve Timm. Then 162 AMAX. Then 120 TTSX. Then sold it. Had a few 300 magnums before then. Churned through a bunch of rifles before and since, and don't have any 7mm-08 now. Do have a couple 300 magnums again!

They were strongly opposed to hinge mounted studs. I should have been more clear on that. And yes, they are hunters and not birders. That has not stopped me from using the Outdoorsmans stud though.

I bought a diamondback spotter, did i mess up?

Good deal. Let us know how you like the Razor 50mm. I tried the new 56mm and it wasn't very good. I think I paid $200 for the last ED50, so not too worried about warranty.
