Others have had some good suggestions. I would add that upon reading your post I got a strange dejavu that reminding me of my younger self. I had never heard of the place till the day before I was hauling a horse trailer thru yellowstone. Spent some time back there in the summer of 11. It...
That is just wrong, just because it is on the list doesn't mean it is the most used or preferred. They use bics more than most would like to admit. Also comparing special forces to cops and storm troopers is worse than comparing a Bic to a glock. 😉
Comparing a bic to a glock is a disservice to the Bic. Glocks are junky, clunky, inaccurate toy guns made of chinesium alloy. Bic lighters are a work of art. ;)
If that is the release site, I would bet a pretty penny they don’t stick around too long. This will be interesting. For or against wolves… the big issue here is letting voters decide the fate of wildlife in the state.
That is a tuff call to make. I always say start with a 12 for a gun that will do it all. But most everyone I know that starts shooting a 20 never goes back to the 12 gauge.
Really cool experience to see those critters up close. They are sure Purdy. That picture is of a yearling or subadult. Crazy highlights on that one. To think you heard wolves is so cool. Sounds like a very wild and untamed experience.
It really depends on where you are hunting. My late season haunts are in very thick nasty country. There are some clearings for longer shots, but the advantages of having the gg in the thick stuff out way the long distance guns benefits. The bulls especially seem to like the thickest nastiest...
I am poor so I would shoot it. I take my busted up arrows and throw judos on them for small game. That way when I miss and they explode I can't be upset lol
Elk will often feed mid day in and around bedding areas. We have had consistent luck glassing up elk in small meadows around the noon hour. Especially on chilly wet days. The whole wind thing seems to come up a lot. If you think you know which way the wind is gonna blow, you will be wrong...
They are not talking as much this week as last in my part of NW wyoming. Within the coming days some of the cows should start their cycles and fire things back up. Seems like the bulls get excited, scream their heads off and then realize it isn't quite time yet.
What about a red/green dot? No need for magnification with the limited range abilities of those rounds imho. Faster on target than a scope with magnification and if you are in bear country it is effective day and night. Weight is also reduced vs a scope. Mount scout style, loads of options...
Basically what yeti14 stated. Be smart. Recovering an animal or meat after dark is something I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing. That or leaving an animal overnight. We only hunt in high grizzly density areas. We see bears up close almost as often as we have shots on elk. There...
