    Bushnell Elite LRHS 2

Nice looking rig. What stock is that?

    Bushnell Elite LRHS 2

I've had both. The LRHS is FFP. Due to reticle, I'd take the Bushie.

    Bushnell Elite LRHS 2

Dont let the brand throw you off, the 8-10 LRHS/LRTS I've had/have, have all been great scopes. Precise dialers and rugged. The same can't be said for a couple of "Alpha" brand scopes that I've had.

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

I've done a lot of shooting both ways. Would much rather dial for elevation. Timed it both ways and, for me, dialing is faster and more precise. When I started regularly shooting farther than MPBR, I had mil dot reticles with MOA adjustments. Justvthe way most scopes were at that time. I ran a...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

Through Maven. IIRC, you can get them off of Amazon, but it's still directly through Maven.

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

I like that the parallax is a bit stiff. Keeps it from ghost turning. Usually find a sweet range on my scopes and let it be unless I'm going over 10x and 1k+ yds. But, I do have man, or more specifically - working man - hands.

    6.5 PRC suggestions

Before I built on a couple of Tikkas, I had a pile of 700's and A-bolts. Always preferred the A-Bolt safeties to anything else. I think it's largely due to the fact that I do a lot of upland hunting with O/U's, and a thumb safety on the tang is completely sub conscious for me. Moved to Tikkas...

    6.5 PRC suggestions

I have a Tikka 6.5PRC. It's been great. I don't track it that close, but since I only have 1 6.5PRC, it's a little easier to know off hand that the factory barrel has well over 2k rounds down it with no signs of wear. Cuts tiny groups with about anything I stuff in it. I have it in an Altitude...

    Looking to Retire?

I'd probably be in western ND. Pheasants are fun, but I think I've had enough at this point. Sharpies and Huns have been some of my favorites for years. In addition to all the hunting in MT, Canada, ND and SD that you'll have easy access to when based in western ND, you'll be close to Fort Peck...

    Hunting with Non-Illuminated FFP

I'm waiting on a new mk4 2.5-10. They certainly have a desirable feature set. I'll knock mine around quite a bit before committing to it for hunting. Hoping it has the most desirable attribute of all: Reliability. Otherwise, and you likely are already aware if it, but the Maven RS 1.2 seems...

    Elk Terrain and Hunting Technique's

In early seasons try driving/ hiking the hunt area at night during the rut. I've been in areas, especially during early seasons where daylight movement can be minimal, I swore were near elkless based on litle sign and no sightings, only to find that there's bulls sounding off all over at night...

    Hunting with Non-Illuminated FFP

Like many have also stated, I've done the majority of my hunting and shooting for years and years with non lit FFP's. Bunch of Swfa 3-9, 6x's, 3-15, 5-20, numerous LRHS's and LRTS's, and bunch of lit reticles that I rarely turn on. Not too many issues seeing things on game. Have also tried a...

    Lightest reliable pic rings?

I've run into this issue with the power rings on the aforementioned SHV and other scopes. To avoid going higher, I take a belt sander and cut a groove in the rear base/rail. If anyone is curious, I can post up a couple of pics later.

How far are you shooting monos?

490 yds. Bull elk. Barnes 225 TTSX. 338 WM 2850 MV. DRT with chest shot and no major bone contact. Complete pass through. Quarter sized exit. Didn't do that much damage, but obviously was enough. Had other shots with the same set up at bull elk much closer that zipped through and the animals...

Monos vs. Lead. Which do you choose and why?

Good point. A definitive statement such as "Bottom line" was a poor choice of words for stating a general sense of something. Presumably, more hunters now use lead free bullets than at any point in history; as such, if lead in gut piles is the major contributer to lead levels in scavengers...

Monos vs. Lead. Which do you choose and why?

Switching to lead free in an attempt to placate anti hunters so that they'll leave hunting alone is seriously flawed logic. A few here have substantiated their opinions by posting links to studies; others drone on with sanctimonious statements. It's reminiscent of the great mask/shot debate we...

    Climate change...deer numbers

Yes. In norther MN and WI they are blaming climate change for low deer numbers in the areas of the states that have the most wolves. They are saying the winters are more severe. It's colder because it's hotter. Kid you not.

    Sold Tikka barrel

Not fluted. Give or take 200 rounds. Cut tiny groups with a number of loads and was very consistent. Bought as a donor, but shot so great that I left it alone for a couple years. Had a couple of other 300's that shot great, so I finally moved the Tikka action on to the 7mm build I had...
