I felt like a dummy never thinking of it either once i saw it on a video, and realized how simple it was Definitely safer too as the havalon has almost amputated my fingers a few times trying to hold that leg up.
Has anyone taken a dome style 4 season tent and added a stove jack with a zippered floor? Would run the same titanium stove i run in the TP. I've read about it a few posts. Similar to the Alaskan guide model. I have the old cabelas extreme that I could do it in, but fitting a 88lb tent in a...
1500-2000 is not a lot for an all day hunt, but terrain definitely determines that. Alaska moose hunt 1500, would probably be terrible. Montana archery hunt, that is done before daylight.
It definitely has pros and cons. It does take longer to load and offload, but fortunately I don't fish a lot of busy river boat launches. It's also like a damn kite up there and tanks the tacos MPG. It does allow me to pull my jumping jack and boat both though.

Let's see some raft set ups for dudes that have done the long float. Trying to put a trip together for a November deer hunt through there one of these years. Here's what I run in Washington and Oregon for salmon and steelhead.
I keep very mobile and move daily if I'm not finding the elk, or sign I like. For example one year in Montana we had breaks tags. After 6 days of bouncing around the entire unit we decided to change areas and go to a general area. The part most find weird was we were into alot of elk, but no...
