Which are you guys choosing for August/Sept hunts, or has anyone tried both? I've been running a Mountain Star for a while now and trying to lighten up my early season setup. Application is for cramming everything back into my bag each morning. If im spiking out, I'll most likely still bring...
A lot of variables go into that. 1000' isn't much in some terrain, and in others it can be a big deterrent. Hunters are a lot better now, and in way better shape then they used to be.
Every airline and airport is different, so just check and declare the firearm when you get there. I always put handguns in a pelican case with two locks on it. Don't use cable locks either, had a friend make that mistake at SeaTac. They were able to unlatch and open the case slightly due to...
Last time I looked at Flycraft they were not self bailing and that's a no go for myself. The saturn triton series in 12'6 is cheaper and could strap a NRS frame on it.
Both of these are very narrow however, and can get top heavy if you get sideways in any bad chop. Personally I run a wide 14'...
Issaquah area is a good bet. I live further south in the South Hill area and commute to Bellevue. Being up off of I90 or Highway 18 would make for easy commutes compared to using I5 or 405 to travel. Lots of guys on a jobsites actually live in the cle elum area and drive over the mountain...
I've got two weirdos, the larger one we thought just broke off when he slammed into a tree. We looked for the broken side for 5 minutes before we walked back down and realized it wasn't actually broke off.
Why not just make snake river your first choice. Plenty of country in there to avoid the people. Starkey is a tough one, as not many places get you way out there, but their are a few. Unfortunately 5-10 miles a day puts in the same shoes as the majority of the other hunters, so running into...
This is an unpopular opinion, but I share the same belief. In any state I've been the most friendly people I meet are killers themselves. The amount of looks and middle fingers I've gotten with washington plates while driving back home with a bull in the back is astounding. MT and ID seeming...
I'm a odd one, but all my mountain rifles are 10-12lbs. It could be because I haven't been introduced to a good light weight rifle I like, but currently I'd rather do more heavy squats and carry a heavy rig.
I do know some guys that run great setups in the 8-9lb range, but every time I lay...
I would just flat out move basins. If I know the area well I may sit back and wait for a escape route or if I'm super familiar with the area head to another basin I know the elk will be in after they ditch the current one.
I've killed more elk from throwing a audible at a bad situation and...
