^^^^ I agree, I don’t FL new brass (but you can if you want) it’s usually a minimum size, I do run a neck mandrel to straighten out the neck. After that I always FL and bump the neck back a couple thousands.
I would google about reloading the 45-70 flex tips. I trimmed some of my brass so I could reload the flex tips but I trimmed the brass to short and could not crimp the brass. There might be a length to trim so they work but I don’t shoot that rifle enough to worry about it...so I bought factory...
I use RCBS and they work good. My only problem was trying to load the Hornady Flex tips. They were too long to work in the action of my 1895 guide gun.

Sounds like you’re going to long. Unless the knife is really dull I don’t use the coarse. If it is dull I use it a couple swipes, then use the less coarse belts. You can usually feel the burr, I take the burr off with a leather strop. I quit using my Worksharp and use a DMT Diamond set..
