Yep, but I've only tried them on. I think they'll be great - fit is good and they seem very well made. I'll be trying them out over the next month with bird hunting and some late season elk.
Sounds like you know you'll miss it if you decide to just use the phone camera. Might look at offloading most of that gear, then using the money to get a new/used mirrorless aps-c with a zoom kit lens. The camera land crew could set you up. There are some great setups, like the Olympus they're...
I trust the GPS miles, but anything based off your phone's step counts are likely way off (in mileage and elevation). Unless it's gotten way better in the last few minutes, those things are just bad estimates. My buddy's iphone would say we hiked 7 miles and my GPS track would say 4.
You might have the transparency set lower than 100% for the "private land" layer. When you click layers, make sure the green bar is all the way to the right.
Thanks for resurrecting this thread - it's a good one and well timed. Just ordered Hank Shaw's book for me and a few of my guys from work. Looking for new stuff to try, especially things to do with ground elk. Tacos, meatloaf, and sloppy joes are great but I need some options.
Anyone tried the hillsound gaiters? I'm getting some just to try a zippered gaiter. Velcro closures are great until you want to remove your gaiters (loud!) in the field for some reason.
Otherwise, I've used several gaiter brands and they've all been about identical in performance - particularly...
I went from a gen 1 razor to a kowa 773 this year and it's night and day. Bought it (along with a camera adapter) for about $1700 on the classified here and it was basically flawless. Great spotter.
Great info, everyone - that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to start some research based on the Leupold CDS scopes and go from there. I agree that being tied to one load isn't great, but I could get away with that on my 7mm. I'll have a few other rifles that'll need flexibility...
I'm an old school 3-9x kind of guy and I haven't paid any attention to newer styles of scopes that allow you to dial, point, and shoot.
What's a basic dial-able scope setup for standard rifle calibers? I'm looking for a hunting-specific setup that will cover ranges from 0-500 yards.
I know...
If you have the old rubber version, you can email their customer support and they'll send you an updated version for free. I did that a month or so ago and the current rev is much better; it doesn't fall off easily. Probably the same as what's on the 99mm, since it has the same indentions on the...
If you're using your phone, I would just let it do its thing on auto mode. No sense in fighting it. Like Tim said, just make sure it's focused on the right subject.
Mainly wondering what cutting boards and surfaces you're using for processing.
I have a large plastic cutting board I put on the kitchen counter. The height is right, but the board wants to slide around a lot. I'm looking for other options and tools that help with home butchering.
Current...
