Klymit Static V Luxe Insulated SL. Great R value, wider than standard but not quite as wide as the non-SL model but lighter and thicker than the non-SL. Highly recommend this pad! Now also avaialble through CostCo for $100 and you get their no hassle purchase/return to go along with the lifetime...
I really like the Sea to Summit Explore down bag. I am 6'1" 250 and have the large size, plenty of room for tossing and turning as I do side sleeping. Hate a the hotdog feel of a traditional mummy bag. I sleep warmer than my wife or my hunting buddy and fine the 25* rating to be comfortable...
I don’t have experience with the Luxe tipis but I do have their Polatouche tarp for an awning on my SeekOutside Cimarron. It is fine quality but compared to the SO...SO has nicer feeling fabric that is also light and the stitching is better on SO. I would have bought the tarp from SO instead if...
When I hear complaints about First Lite, it is almost always about a puffy jacket ripping when busting brush or wool pants not being as durable as nylon pants. Pretty unrealistic expectations, really. Would anyone that complains about wool pants failing faster than nylon pants also complain...
Nonsense! Comparing how similar nylon is to merino wool is a completely valid comparison because every manufacture claims they are different and all must be lying to us. Now that we genetically engineer and clone sheep maybe we can have nylon wool to make everyone happy.
On a completely...
I use CNOC Vecto water bladders and love them! Durable and super east to fill with the entire end opened. Color coded to keep the dirty and clean water separated. I now use a Vera FLow filter which replaced my Sawyer Mini. The Versa Flow has much better design with threads on both end for...
I run a single patch of Hope's # 9 through the barrel then a few dry patches to keep the carbon down. This is down after each match to also aid in getting water, dust and debris out that may be in there. Typically this is after approx 200 rds between pratice and match shooting. I DO NOT clean...
Tick live through the winter months and are active anytime it is above 32degrees. This means ticks can be a problem during the day but dormant at night or active of some days of a trip and not others. I know several people with Lyne Disease and I have no interest, personally, in getting it or...
Perhaps best not to be so quick to judge. Here in the midwest, and many other parts of the country, there is real fear of disease. Ticks bit year round carrying lifelong illnesses.
Lyme Diseas cases by state
But then again, some people don’t like snakes, mice or scorpions.
I have the same tripod and love it. Not as stable as a larger heavier tripod but much better for pacing and far superior to light weight cheap tripods. Easy and fast to setup if you have practice.
Extremely helpful in building a stable position on uneven terrain!
Any plans to make a specific nests for a 12man tipi such as 1/2 or individuals?
Any plans to offer longer sod skirts/side walls on Cimarron or Redcliff?
Any plans to offer a large Courthouse?
Is the Big Mamma stove still available for larger tents? no listed on the site.
Another couple options to consider:
Atuk out of Canada. Canvas single pole hot tents. Too heavy for pack-in but often seen on Youtube snowshoeing in with sleds. Seem to be a lot lighter than a traditional canvas wall tent
Atuk Tents
Cooke Custom Sewing out of Minnesota
Winter T Hexagon...
I too am looking into the Courthouse and would appreciate hearing from those who have used one. I love my Cimarron and cannot go back to cold camping but want something for 4 guys. Not sure if the 8man tipi will fit 4 comfortably of if the Courthouse of 12man is a better option. this would be...
+1 for Sherman Short mags.
Loving my 7SS with 180 ELD-m's loaded light @ 2843fps with ES in single digits. Easy barrel swap on my Bighorn TL3 to add extra power for hunting. The 180's were extremely lethal on 3 caribou this fall in Alaska. Certainly could have used another cartridge but this...
Another vote for the Seek Outside Cimarron. Pack a stove on colder trips, pack a nest on warmer trips. Light weight. Flexible setup options. Great ventilation in warmer weather. Modular system allows for complete flexibly for application.
