    Easton Axis vs FMJ

45# recurve. Tried the fmj, they bent like crazy. Very expensive test. I have been using the same 6 axis arrows with iron will hit and impact collars. I shoot at rocks all the time. Makes my buddy cringe... Haven't broken an arrow yet.

    Reluctantly Obliging Matt Rinella

I used to listen to Steven rinnella... Stopped listening after he stopped advocating for civil disobedience after the BLM riots. I thought it was funny he didn't say it again in the time I listened. Had to stop listening because he is so rude. Like his content otherwise. Only listening to Matt...

Nock kick up in flight and looping

Isn't it nice knowing it's you and not the equipment? I struggled with that question for about a year with my recurve.

    Anyone using chest rigs?

I use the hpg heavy recon and I can shut my recurve just fine... Have to move string arm slightly out to clear the chest rig, but at full draw it's still an inch away from the chest rig.

If you were to buy a timber gun…

Ruger mk77 "guide gun" in 30-06. Made the leather scope caps to keep wet brush from obscuring the lenses. Heavy but indestructible.

How many of you guys leave your hunting backpack packed with all your gear? Or unpack it and store it?

I always unpack after anything more than a day trip. I keep notes in the field, but I like to clean and repair or decide if I really needed that one item.

HPG chest rig. Got it a couple months ago and never looking back... But damn I wish there were a MOLLE compatible Bono pouch that works exactly like the kuiu one.

    Tough coyote or bad ammo?

No experience with coyotes, but when slaughtering farm animals, every once in a while I'll have an animal that just doesn't want to die. Chickens, sheep, goats, I've had at least one of each-carotid artery sliced both sides, no more blood... Animal just won't die. It's gut wrenching but it...

    Understanding California Public Turkey Options

A road going through federal land isn't necessarily public road. You can call the field office of the blm area you're trying to access and they will tell you if and where public access is. If it's far away, don't risk driving and hoping it's open... I've done that a few times and it sucks to...

Ever Used Your Sidearm While Hunting?

Sadly, here in California you are disallowed caring a sidearm while hunting in archery season, or with an archery tag, while hunting deer. CCW is allowed, but it has to be concealed.

Rabbit and hare hunting in different parts of the country

I have a couple spots in north CA that have rabbits. Some years you're tripping over them, some years they're no where to be found. I usually use a recurve. For my spots it seems best to hug tightly to cover around the edge of a field or opening, and try to get a shot as they're running the 30...
