I'm going to try to use their 25 degree light sheet with my enlightenment quilt. The hood attached to the pad seems like the biggest win for me, keeps the pillow in, and I'm hoping it will allow me to keep my arm up by my head while I sleep on my stomach.
I decided to go with a Leitner rack on my F-150 raptor. I run dirt bikes for hunting, so it allows me to have a dirt bike or two in the bed with coolers while strapping a bunch of stuff to the rack on the sides. Picture isn't mine, an example.
I have an enigma down and recently got a synthetic apex quilt. The enigma is awesome, super light and warm, has a built in foot box, the apex can be converted to a blanket or cinched into a closed foot box. I like the idea of a synthetic bag, for the hunting I do, and the weight increase was...
I have a steep hill near me, and I do a mile with increasing weight in my pack, currently at 50lbs, I add 5lbs every week if I'm able to complete the mile in timely manner. Then i do 3 sets of a circuit while wearing the same pack with the weight. The circuit is 15 squats, 20 step-ups, 20...
It's a better value hunt, 3x the meat of a deer, better tasting IMO, calling and interacting with them is fun. I prioritize filling the freezer vs having the biggest challenge or getting a trophy.
F-150 to get me on the forest roads and trail heads, and ebikes to go deeper, then I spike and hunt from there. If the spot sucks, it's easy to pick up my spike camp and ride out on my bike and go to another spot. Staying mobile is key for me.
I used Montana High Country in Polaris last year, and had a great time. They have a great team, beautiful lodge. I took a Bull archery hunting on public land with the guide calling for me. They're really knowledgeable and are always scouting to find Elk for their clients. Give them a call ASAP...
I start with 50lbs and hike a steep hill about 3 times a week for 30 minutes. I add 5lbs every week until I fail to reach the end of my hike in 30 minutes, then I just keep the weight until I can reach or exceed the end of the hike, and add more weight.
I also do a circuit of 4 sets of squats...
I run a quilt, Enlightenment Enigma, 20 degrees. It's lighter, packs smaller, and more versatile, you just need a good pad. I ran it with a Klymit insulated pad, which worked great in Idaho at 20F. Trying a big agnes rapide pad this year. I also switched to synthetic fill so i don't have to...
Hi all, I'm in the Carson Valley area. I hunt whatever opportunity I can get with rifle or a bow. I took a muley with my rifle 2 years ago in unit 192, which was basically my back yard. And took my first bull bow hunting last year in Montana. Going back to Montana this September again. Hit me up...
I run a G20 as well. It sits in a safariland holster that's down around my thigh, so its out of the way of my pack's hip pads. After reading and hearing stories of grizz encounters, i like the idea of having extra ammo, plus it's lighter and easier to shoot than a revolver.
