I sent a mail to ADG the other day and they said get a lot of requests for 6.8W and near top of their next cartridge list. Fingers crossed! Agree for folks to email them and let them know we want it Lou

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

From the article “Both my daughters took their first game with .260s. I gave up on it because in the rifles I was messing with, I wasn’t getting the accuracy I wanted.” Nothing about killing power being the issue….

    Suppressor Opinion: Meh, It’s Ok

I came to the same conclusion after going down the supressor route. I guess I expected something life changing, but meh. I will use on couple rifles but nothing that makes me want to thread or alter anything I already use to make more suppressor friendly Lou

6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

For a 4 year period my son used a 243 Win along side me on a variety of hunts. He started with Hornady SST reduced recoil ammo. During this period, he shot several TX whitetail including a good sized mature East TX buck. All somewhere between 75 and about 125 yards. The round performed...

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

30-06, 280 Ross, 250 Savage, 22 Savage Hi-Power to name a few. Actually, the 22 Savage Hi-Power is a very good parallel to this discussion with a 70gr bullet around 27-2800 fps. Was even used on tigers in it’s day! Lou

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

As others have mentioned this is a very old discussion. Absolutely nothing new or revolutionary here. In fact, those who embrace the soft/match bullets are bigger fudds than the tough bullet guys! The first jacketed hunting bullets where all thin jacketed soft points that behaved precisely...

    Manufacturer supported ammo forecasting

223, 30-06, 30-30, 7 rem mag, 270 Win, 308 Win, 6.5 creedmoor, 243 Win, 300 Win will be there. Too popular for too long and too many rifles out there for these to not remain so. The new rounds cannabilize each other before they get anywhere near the realm of popularity of the “standards”...

    Q Trash Panda

I am not “into” suppressors but bought a Q Trashpanda since it was available at the time, fairly light, and could use the brakes to move from gun to gun. I have been very happy. I keep the cherry bomb brake on but move the can from gun to gun with zero poi shifts. I am sure something is...

    Barnes TTSX vs Accubond

Not kept detailed records or anything but I beleive have seen better blood trails on average with bonded bullets like accubond and sciroccos than monos. Most of time critters fall in sight so only really pay attentiom when have to trail but in those cases the bonded bullets have left better...

Best cartridge for mono bullets on elk under 600 yards?

Check out the badlands precision bulldozers if want a really high bc mono bullet for extended ranges. Lou

Best cartridge for mono bullets on elk under 600 yards?

If you have a 300 Win that is what I would use and change bullets. If want less recoil I would look hard at 6.8 Western and 162 copper extreme, 155 lrx, or one of the heavier hammers. The 162 is win factory load and can get 155 lrx loaded by choice ammunition. Lou

Winchester 6.8 Western 162gr Copper Impact ammo CAUTION!!!

I have 2 30-06 and 2 6.8 Western. Best to have the bases covered;). Seriously 6.8W is a great round. I think the manufacturers will take some time to work the bugs out of the newest “high performance” stuff in production. The 06 has only had about 120 years of kinks sorted out Lou

Winchester 6.8 Western 162gr Copper Impact ammo CAUTION!!!

I see lot of complaints with the newest long range rounds (prc, western, et all) for pressure, clickers, chambering etc…. The legacy hunting and battle rounds had tolerances built in (chamber dimensions, taper) for reliable feeding, extraction, and ejection in adverse conditions. The new...

Anything new for 6.8 western ?

So what do you get with adg or peterson you cant with say prepped and sorted Win brass? I like the premium brass and use it to save myself time in prep work but other than that I have always gotten good results with “normal” brass with the leg work if thought I needed it. It is not uncommon...

Anything new for 6.8 western ?

A guy in FB group said he called them and getting lot of requests for round but didn’t think they would get to it until next Dec at earliest. I guess it depends who you talk to what kind of answer you get as some folks get brushed off as no plans. When I emailed them long while back said they...

Anything new for 6.8 western ?

Cabelas/bpro had ablr in stock right now and had 175 tgk for most of fall. They also have browning 170 silver series. Not had any issue finding ammo/bullets. New brass has not been available. I have not seen prices any different than any other round Choiceammunition has a bunch of good 6.8...

Bergara Ridge Carbon Wilderness or Browning X-Bolt Speed SR

I have a browning SR in 6.8W that is very accurate with Browning 175 tgk load. Run it with a trash panda. Very happy with rifle. Think would be great in 7prc as well Lou

    270 WSM?

270 wsm is fantastic hunting cartridge and m70 fw is tough to beat as an all around hunting rifle. Not as common as the most popular rounds but it is still pretty popular and gets runs of ammo. I see it at Cabelas pretty regularly, at least Winchester brand Lou

6.8 Western instead of 7mm Rem Mag?

Cabelas has it in stock if looking at least did the other day when I was at store. Think They had winchster copper and extreme point
