Your personal experience hunting Deer/Elk in wolf country

No I do not believe the were re-introduced, I am sure there have always been some in there, but the populations of wolves have gone up in the Bob since the re-introduction into the state as more packs moved into there.

Your personal experience hunting Deer/Elk in wolf country

From what I have seen and heard, I think it really for some reason, depends on the area with how hard it gets hit. My experience with hunting wolf areas is from the Frank Church, and the Bob Marshell. From what I understand, wolves were released into the Frank about the same time as...

    Firearm for backup?

I cannot remember the brand, but it was one of the more "mainstream" brands. Wind was towards the bear, distance was 20 feet or so. This was a younger boar.

    Firearm for backup?

On another note I didn't add to my first post, I used bear spray for the first time last fall on a black bear. Did not work. After spraying him four times, he was just pissed off, and popping his teeth, and bluff charging.

    Firearm for backup?

If your not I griz country, I wouldn't bother personally, I carry a .44 on my hip all fall guiding in the Bob, and having that extra weight gets old real quick. Not to mention they are always catching on brush etc. Keep it simple

    Backcountry Upland Hunting Trip

Frank Church has some great grouse and chucker. Lots of fun. Another fun one is the south side of the Bob for Grouse. Great grouse hunting, and as much about the country as the hunting.

Is it just me losing interest in "latest gear"?

I am sick of the newest "best" stuff. As a guide, I spend over a hundred days a year in the mountains a year. Probably significantly more than that. I have Kuiu, Sitka, Firstlite, Under Armour, but most days I wear Wranglers and a wool shirt - if its real cold then I break out the wool pants...

    Western Mt

I live a little south of Cut Bank, I would not move there. Cut Bank is a pretty crappy town, and to access good hunting you would really have to come south towards Choteau or Augusta

    Best economical two man tent?

I was thinking price wise in the range of 200 - 400. I would be primarily using it just for myself, so I guess rated two person would be all I really need, but I wouldn't mind having on that was comfortable for two, as long as the weight difference wasn't too drastic.

    Best economical two man tent?

Hey guys, in the market for a new tent, but going off of a guides salary, I need something economical. Any suggestions? I will be using it for backpack hunting, and also want it to be a two man. Any help would be awesome!

I've talked to Phelps, I guess I will just try to scout if I can and hunt September either way. Maybe try it later if I don't find what I want early.

    NW Montana Mule Deer

October or November. I want to do September as well, but worried if I end up fighting fire this summer, I will have very little or any time to scout.
