I don't have a pic, but IMO, the clarity is pretty good, but a notch below the the Leupold VX5HD I used to own. Reticle is a bit thin and I agree that if you don't use illumination, it could be difficult to make out. The entire reticle on my Credo illuminates , but the center dot is tiny. I...
I just got finished hunting the south unit for cow elk. First time down there. It was tough, mostly due to drought and hot weather. Finally sealed the deal on day 3. Took a cow elk at 140 yards. First time using 6.5 PRC, and despite the naysayers, I now have a great deal of confidence in this...
I say go for it. A braked 6.5 PRC should get your recoil down a good bit, and the 6.5 PRC is plenty capable of killing darn near everything if you shoot reasonably well. I have a bad shooting shoulder, which is why I stepped down to 6.5 PRC. I'll take it for a spin on elk next week.
Took my Xero for a long range session this past weekend. Super easy - it just works, and I love having the seeions on my phone to reference afterwards. There's simply no comparison between the Xero and the Magnetospeed Sporter I was using. The Xero is worth every dollar for me. The...
I have a Tikka 30-06 and now have a Tikka 6.5 PRC. Without involving a brake, the recoil of the 6.5 PRC is most definitely less than a 30-06, but is still a bit snappier than I had anticipated. Not bad, but I do prefer shooting it with the factory brake, which makes it much easier to spot shots.
I would love a great duplex reticle. It's a shame that Leupold apparently has issues, because their firedot duplex is the ultimate hunting reticle for my eyes. I use a Trijicon Credo HX now, which is a great scope, but the reticle is thin and kind of busy with hash marks. I'll take a fairly...
I'll go ahead and say that I do not, but maybe it's all in my head. We have a 100 yard state run range here in GA that uses electronic targets, and I have given up trying to get accurate feedback from those targets, as a confirmed zeroed rifle will walk all around the target in ways that make...
I hate FB, but if you are willing to search FB posts, you can find them in stock. I just snagged one last night from outdoor dog supply after seeing their FB post. They are out of stock now, but I am sure other shops will get them in stock this week.
I would add Norma Bondstrike to your list. No personal experience, but I will be using them on a hunt soon with my 6.5 PRC. They have a good reputation.
Agreed. I had the same Leupold and I feel like the clarity and the reticle (firedoot duplex in my case) were fantastic. I feel a lot more confident with my Credo though. It seems to dial much more dependably vs. the Leupold.
I have the 42mm. I think that the reticle lines are a bit thin, but I have learned to live with them. I would much rather have a thicker reticle and a single good sized illuminated center dot. Still, great scope and dials dependably.
I have a great semi-custom Tikka 30-06, but I opted to switch to 6.5 PRC recently and I have really been enjoying the reduced recoil. I’ll know soon enough if it’s effective on elk, but it’s a round worth considering. .270 and .308 are also great cartridges that have stacked a ton of animals...
It's a shame that the Leupold offerings seem so inconsistent in terms of reliability. I still think that their firedot duplex is a fantastic reticle for hunting. I loved my Leupold VX5HD and the glass was killer, but I didn't trust it after it started acting a bit funky.
