Issue I run into with one is battery life. Its another charger to carry. I use one (not a fitness /gps specific one)daily, and they are great for seeing who is calling, seeing messages etc without taking your phone out of your pocket especially in meetings. I dont think its worth spending the...
Thanks. Ive been bow hunting around 25 years. This will be the first time for Mule deer, and in this type of country.
I think that may be one benefit of going solo. Being able to manage time how I see fit.
Thanks!I think patience on the stalk will be easier for me than patience behind the...
Question. You spot a buck bedded in an open area. Everything around is prairie, with no way to get in on him without being seen.
Leave him, or go for it and take it wide? Is there ever a point where you can be within viewing of a deer, but not have them spook? i.e half mile away, he can see...
Thanks. I plan to be out there prior to season, and hopefully get several glassing spots located. Hopefully deer as well.
Awesome insight. Much appreciated!
Have it and read it along with Robbies book and a couple others. Definitely taking a lot of that advice into consideration.
Have good...
Thanks. Im planning the 10 days before rifle season. Can't hunt public as a NR until Oct 1. I figured early Nov may be better than mid Oct. I don't want to miss late Oct here in Iowa either.
Always looking for tips/advice for my first mule deer hunt this fall. Would like to put some specifics out there to narrow things down, as well as what I already know/have been told. There have been some great people on here that I have talked to via PM/phone.
-Archery hunting SD, and not the...
Ive had very good luck with the Fenix LD22. I actually have 3 of them now. One spent 2 days 20' underwater (in salt water, in 2011) and i recovered and it turned right on and is still running today. Light, bright, and several options for brightness with the push of a button.
I have the biggest cylinder Davis sells for my 14x16. Works good enough for us to use ice fishing in Feb in the Midwest. Weight is not an issue for where I take the tent though either.
I disagree completely with "needing to do away with deductions". B&C is not just a book where you look to see how high of a number you can get. Im sure there are other scoring systems that will give you the biggest number. The point is record keeping, and finding the most perfect specimens. By...
Ill be out there for the first time this fall as well. I opted to go spend 10 days there, in fact, the 10 days prior to opener of gun season in Nov. Going solo, let me know how you do or if you decide to push for a later hunt. I decided for Nov over Oct for the opinion from many that it "should"...
Batteries wont make a difference in image quality, as its the same camera either way. Yes, lithiums are expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. I run 20+ cameras a year, and would rather spend the money up front knowing they will last, than to go in and check a card, and realize its been...
Go bigger. You can always close it down, but if its cold and you are limited on size of the fire, you will just wish you had gone bigger. Im assuming weight isnt an issue. I have a 14x16 Davis tent and got "the peak" stove that they sell, which is the largest they have. Its been great in my...
Thats kind fo what I am thinking. I have several areas in mind to check out. Im guessing it will be a sh** show, being its my first time mule deer hunting and im going alone, but Gotta learn somehow.
