hahaha indeed, it’s actually a guy in England who captains super yachts. Was insurance write off so win/ win.
I’ve also acquired a 20x wide EP for the 664 but need another for big eyes. If anyone is selling I’m in the market for one.
Excellent timing. Today picked up a damaged 883 Kowa with 25/60 zoom and manfrotto tripod for $636. Bought from geological survey guy who was in Antarctica and someone helpfully knocked it over. Working 100% so far
What do you mean? Swarovski offered twin STS80?
I’ve seen and used the 30x 75, British army commissioned for use on observation towers not far from me. Decent enough for the time but wouldn’t hold up Vs new offerings.
Picked one of these up recently , I have the ED60III and it’s one of the best I’ve ever owned. Bit heavy due to metal construction but compared to ED50 it’s night and day. The ED50 is made in China and it’s QC isn’t great. The rest of the series is Made in Japan. The threaded insert problem is...
Set of Kowa 822 I saw for sale in Deadwood South Dakota, of interest is the bracket design . These are more difficult to make and some say less capable of holding collimation than AA type design. kowa have repainted these I think, as they use the “820“ stencilled design on repainted scopes of...
Min IPD for STC is 2.5” acc to Adam, this may be reduced removing eyecups (i think).
A last resort would be getting a surgeon to take a die grinder to your nose bridge 😅
Astronomy retailers make mounting plates for side by side use with cameras etc, used by astrophotographers I think. Losmandy make the fancy gear in that world. There are lots of budget options, I’d considered going that route.
The Kowa paint on these scopes is a nightmare, it fails becomes sticky and gets everywhere. If you’re lucky to be in the US kowa seem willing to repaint with few qualms. I saw a set of 822(I think) for sale on US FB marketplace as I was looking for 21/20x kowa eyepieces. They had an elaborate...
Banana for scale , two Kowa TSN824 I’m turning into a set. They just about work with my eyes, bracket isn’t made yet but lining them up the view is incredible.
The paint is a pain to remove but necessary, I may repaint with something suitable.

Check out this post. The numbers mean the “centimetre squared” real estate of glass. This translates to much greater brightness and light transmission which means more...
The physics involved mean Binoviewers aren’t as good. Swarovski BTX Is the only suitable option. Omegon released a spotter with bino viewer but it seems like casual astronomy tool Vs something you’d bring on a hunt.
I made a mathematical comparison of various big eyes Vs BTX.
Yes like the twin STS you can do whatever you want as they’re independent of each other. Maybe it might be useful in some situations to A/B test an area you’re looking at, allowing you to have large FOV at min magnification then max zoom in other eye to quickly check detail.
Pretty unique...

He doesn’t hang around! Looks really cool, I imagine this will be fantastically light and useful for some segment of the market
These are exactly what it says on the tin/ box. They were used with the Kowa TSN1/2/3/4 range. The 3/4 being the Flourite versions and. 1/3 being angled with 2/4 being straight. They still hold up.
These eyepieces are compatible with the Kowa 661/2/3/4 range today. Will also work in 82SV or...
