WHY is a Tikka trigger more reliable than an R700 trigger?

This is exactly what I believe the issue was. After that hunt, we both went home and completed this. Havent had the issue since. But also haven’t been in quite as harsh of conditions as that day since.

WHY is a Tikka trigger more reliable than an R700 trigger?

I love my tikka. But I watched two tikka rifles fail after half a day hiking in blowing snow. Bull jumped up and both tikkas misfired. One misfired twice.

    Location Bugling

I do a bit of everything. I’ve had bulls I didn’t know were there respond to cow calls, chuckles, location bugles, bulls calling cows bugles, and raking. One time I barked and then did a bull calling cows bugle and got a distant response. In short, it doesn’t matter what sound you use. Try ‘em...

    New Buck Alpha Scout Pro

Looked at the MKC knives. Just feel they are a bit overpriced for what they are. Also, after researching different steels, I like the sound of the S35vn that argali and buck is using for these knives.

    New Buck Alpha Scout Pro

Not many responses. Curious on the alpha scout as well if anyone has anymore input. I was looking at the argali serac. But wouldn’t mind something slightly heavier such as the alpha scout.

    The One Gun Hunter

7 mag tikka is the only gun I have hunted with for the last five years. Works great and has done the job on elk, deer, antelope, and bear.

Shot bull. Having a hard time finding him.

Not sure what the right answer is on punching a tag when you don’t find the animal. Think it depends on the person and situation. I punched mine because I had no doubt the bull was dead. If I thought he may have lived, I wouldn’t punch it.

Shot bull. Having a hard time finding him.

Lost my bull this year. Hit mine a bit back. No doubt he died. But it dumped rain all night after my shot. Washed away all blood and tracks. Feel your pain! Archery is hard.

MKC Blackfoot or Benchmade Steep Country

What about argali knives? Same price range and quality. People who have them rave about them. Better priced than MKC

Your take on the use of a Tomahawk

My dad told me it took one time for him to fall wrong when he carried a hatchet to never carry one again.

Liberty Safes Provides Access Codes to FBI

There is nothing wild about this. January 6 drama aside, if law enforcement has probable cause to apply for a warrant and a judge signs off on it, companies are legally required to cooperate with the warrant. That is all that happened here. Happens every day with technology warrants. Again, im...

What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country

My dad found one this year stuck in a log he was cutting up for firewood. I forget what head it was but I guess it’s not one in production anymore and was from 30 to 40ish years ago. Pretty cool

    Boone & Crockett research

I think those are good questions. And I agree, I know of several deer not in the books. I think the research is worth knowing, but would take it with a grain of salt and use other resources as well.

    Long Term Repercussions of Sports

I’ve been thinking on this as well as I have young kids. I think sports are way more intense now than they were when my parents were kids. Which is a shame. To be competitive it seems you have to go all out and focus on one sport year round. I want my kids to avoid that. To be well rounded...

101 ways to ruin a tent

Was drying mine out in the back yard. Neighbors dog got loose and apparently thought it would be fun to jump through the netting.

Fixed Blade vs Replaceable Blade Knives

I’ve been using an outdoor edge. Kind of wanting to go back to a fixed blade for the following reasons: 1. Nostalgia of a fixed blade to carry on. There’s just nothing special about replaceable blades. 2. Durability 3. Utility 4. The outdoor edge blades I find to be a pain to change when...
