I think it’s hard to narrow down to one thing. As with most things, it’s a melting pot of issues. If I had to sum it up, I think the monetization of hunting is changing it the most. A lot of people make a business of hunting, from hunting shows and social media, to hunting gear, to private land...
Id echo camo is overrated. Look at non-hunting brands too that are for backpacking or hiking.
There’s also a lot of cheap modern army surplus layers that are great and work fine.
I do think this is a problem with fish and game. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a punishment. But, there is a difference between purposefully/knowingly and negligence. Fish and game punishes good behavior. A good hearted guy trying to do the right thing gets crushed for it. This Never sends...
Rules I’ve decided to follow that work for me:
1: I only need one (one conceal carry, one bow, one hunting rifle, one AR) and set each one up the best I can for me within reason
2: Dont buy top of the line. It’s a waste of money
3: Don’t buy bottom of the barrel. It’s also a waste of money.
Had one sitting watch me walk toward it up the trail at 60 yards. It was early and still getting light. Thought it was a stump until it got up and jogged away.
Had another chase a deer in front of my truck as I was driving a logging road into camp.
This is me. I’ve hunted alone a lot in the past. Now I have two in diapers. Hunting motivation in general has dropped along with my normal desire to hunt alone. It’s been a weird transition for me. Still figuring it out.
How much money someone makes is never enough. As Dave Ramsey said, money is 20% numbers and 80% behavior. There are a lot of people making 200,000 a year that are paycheck to paycheck and there are people making $60,000 a year that are doing just fine. Historically, the average millionaire has...
What appendix holster do you recommend? I’m a scrawny 5’7. Will be running a sig 365xl.
I currently run a Tulster with a Glock 43x. The tulster is just ok to me.
Agreed it was a weird year. Id say my worst year I’ve ever had for bugling bulls. We did have one phenomenal day where we worked 5 bulls for four hours.
Not sure if we just weren’t timing things right this year or what the deal was. The funniest moment was a bull i surprised with a bugle. He...
I roughed it out for years with uninsulated boots. If you keep moving you will be mostly fine. Although I have had a few times in montana where I couldn’t really feel my feet. I finally bought a 400 insulated pair last year for when it gets really cold. If you plan on doing much sitting, think...
