I'm still figuring that out for myself. I really like the Revo panel with a smaller bag for shorter trips and the external load shelf versatility. I will continue to mess with it this summer to figure out what works best for me. The news that there might be a Revo version of the Brooks might...
My one complaint about the pack is the internal load shelf. It is not as versatile or adjustable as I was hoping it would be. It only has one option for height and only two loops on each side for horizontal compression straps for securing a load. The horizontal loops are only about 2 inches...
"I’m assuming if you wanted to you could quite easily “pack narrow” to keep the load a bit taller but less bulky width wise."
I should taken a photo to show how much of the main bag was empty before I rolled it down to close. I could have gone quite a bit higher making the pack narrower. The...
I put roughly 3 days worth of gear in the bag and it's not bad. A little blocky but I might play with it to figure how to narrow it down some. The side pockets hold my spotter, tripod, tent poles, and rain gear in one with water bladder, kill kit, and possibles pouch in the other. My tent...
I've been running my Brooks without the extenders training with 50 lbs and it works just fine. If I was putting more weight in, I would add the 2 inch extenders.
I think the easiest answer would be to put the quarter in a trash compactor bag when it is in the pack, and then pack the rest of your stuff around it. I haven't packed meat with mine yet, but I have trained with a sand bag in the internal load shelf and there is quite a bit of room below the...
I've used the exact setup you are describing and it worked great. You don't need a packbag necessarily. The load shelf and compression straps on the Revolution frame and suspension will haul about anything you can carry. The talon provides a good place for day trip necessities and a water...
I definitely would have stayed with a Revo Brooks option because it is easier to swap bags rather than moving the frame and suspension between the Revo panel and Brooks bag.
I have had both bags. I started with Revo system, so I ordered the Broadwing. I was not happy with how the split pockets closed. As Nathan said, you would need pullouts to keep smaller items in these pockets. I never strap my rifle to my pack so these pockets offer no advantage to me. I...
Grew up going to the annual Warren Miller movie put on by the local ski area ski patrol as a fundraiser. Was sad when they stopped doing it. Still own several of his movies on VHS and DVD, but not the same as on the big screen. My best ski memory was the announcement at the intermission of...
I've put a Kuiu Icon Pro 1850 and Ultra 3000 on the frame. The 1850 works well as a day pack with the ability to haul meat. I tried the 3000 because I wanted a bit more room for late season when I bring more clothes, etc. I didn't like the layout of the 3000, so I got rid of it.
For me, the revolution frame and suspension is very comfortable with most loads. I've carried loads up to about 100 lbs without much loss in comfort (beyond what is expected at 100 lbs). I also recently received a Broadwing bag and agree that the pack is very well constructed and the finish is...
I was so focused on making it work with the Revo, I hadn't thought of just using the frame and suspension on the Brooks without the panel. With a bag that large, I can't see the need for additional space between the bag and frame for my uses. As long as there is no issue with my older frame...
