How far was your average sheep shot?
Sample size 2 rocky, one archery one rifle: 34 yards 55 yards -
CO S9 Ewe
You do not need much firepower for a ewe, any legal rifle will do. Get in reasonable range (300 yds) for the shot and just about do not need to estimate range with avg gun set at 1-3 inches high at 100 yards. Do not take very long shots and certainly not by estimating based on assumed sheep... -
Elk and Moose
Have arrowed elk in a swampy azz willow infested river bottom while looking over some moose. Then killed a moose nearby a few days later. Few year later almost exact replay and buddy missed his elk sme spot. -

How many days to you devote to an elk trip?
Couple weeks no problem. If I was a 2 day drive from the hunt area and had a buddy who maybe could not swing it he would A) not be in my hunt group in the first place or B) responsible for his own trabnsportation and I would have everything needed to be self sufficient. Last year put in 24 days... -

great question. Some hunters happened by with “mule tape”. stuff used to pull wires through conduit. looks kinda like a shoestrimg but 2000 pound strength. Right after that picture I lassoed the cow, the ran the tape 400 feet and around ball hitch of a guys truck and then tied to my bumper... -

Not following your math? There are zero undersubscribed cow moose units. All Colo resident cow moose tags require 3 or more points to have a chance. Nonresidents can draw some cow tags with less than 3 points. Last year two of them with 2 points drew. Second choice moose tags, which do not...
