    Unfortunately you really need to have a Mid-season and late-season sets in the North. I have Stratus and Fanatic. Both are necessary. I’m not getting the stratus into the teens even with the celsius and a fanatic vest on.

    I’ve worn my fanatic in a steady low 30s just above freezing sleet and light rain for 6 hours and never got wet. I wouldn’t wear it in a downpour but no issues with light rain or mists.

    I have had the brooks also...the traverse is warmer IMO, but obviously at a big weight and packability penalty. Traverse could layer over the kenai.

    My other thought has been to wear a down vest over/under the kenai thinking that won't be as loud as a down jacket. If you are thinking about drawing a bow say over a wallow or something when you want to stay warm and be stealthy. I haven't tried it out yet though.

    I am considering wearing the kenai with a quiet wind stopper vest like the jetstream to push the kenai ultra into colder conditions but keep the quiet. If you could deal with the weight and packability, the Sitka Traverse Cold Weather hoody is really warm for what it is and very quiet.

    They are quality...I am a 43" chest 6' 190 and I went with the XL...fits great all around...a little loose for layering, but I think the Large would be too small. Euro sizing is just a hair on the tight side vs US sizing. Go by Rab's size chart.

    Embellishment since I was excited...maybe yes! Exaggeration? No!...the thorns on these rose thickets, briars, and the buckthorn brush are no joke here in my neck of the woods. They chew through most other lightweight rain shells.

    Rab Electron is best I’ve tried so far 7.1 oz Treated 800 fill down, weighs 17 oz is super warm, has a great hood design, large pockets, waist cinch, durable and excellent fit and finish.

    I’m going to stick with the Rab If/When they come out with the Grumman vest I’ll probably pick one up to combo up with a synthetic puffy like the Unc or Kenai ultra.
