I agree a jacket with 7oz of high fill power down like the Montbell alpine and the Rab electron are going to be overkill for September. Probably can do with a synthetic or a lower fill down puffy in most places most years.
Archery treestand and stalking wear at least a camo top also I like to hunt turkeys so camo for that
Firearm especially rifle is whatever
I personally think that the olive drab/conifer colors, and the mud browns are the least conspicuous.
I think grey unless its a dark charcoal grey have too...
I think if you can get your fit right with the outer shell not compressing the puffy, then it will be warmer. You may need to have a shell that's oversized to fit over your puffy though, and the rest of the time you wear that shell without, it may feel baggy. Just got to find that sweet spot.
No joke...Japanese sizing as well as Euro sizing is different than US. I typically wear a large in most US sizes but have to wear an XL in Rab because sizing is different. Japanese same thing. You would just have to covert cm to inches on Montbell Japan. Same product just sized diferently.
I’ll be interested to see what upgrades they came up with to improve the obsidians durability...ultimately I feel like they’re the perfect early to mid season pant. Not too hot, not too cold...
I’m wondering if the new First Lite pant will be closer to attack. The Corrugate guide are a bit lighter stretch nylon. I believe the attack are poly blend which makes them warmer IME.
I heard rumor there would be 3 weights to the new FL pant...no idea if that’s true or not.
How bout the original SG Dehaviland pant? Are these similar fabric to the attack? Oh wait they’re in same price range as the attack.
I’m in the same boat OP...the kuiu pants don’t fit me right so I’ve been trying to find a pair similar to the attack. The prana zion are definitely lighter than...
Oh boy that's tough. It depends on where you are from and what you're used to. If you are from Northern States that border Canada like MT,ND,MN,WI,MI,NY, etc, then probably I would feel comfortable in it to -20deg F or better. Other states where you haven't acclimated to the cold yet maybe...
Sure here you go in XL. It’s not the most compact but reasonable for that fill weight. SG Grumman packs smaller at 8"x4. I never actually tried stuffing the Grumman into its stuff sack to see how cramped it was. The Rab does pack quite easily into the stuff sack, and you can compress the Rab...
They both use the same Pertex Quantum Pro 20D fabric so I don’t think there’s a difference between the old Electron and the newer pro model besides color.
Another solid option is the Alpine which is a 30D fabric so similar to a Patagonia Down Sweater. It has a little less fill weight and power...
The Electron is the last years model and Electron Pro the newer model. Electron will be hard to find now that we’re at the end of winter. I’m sure you’ll see closeouts of the Electron Pro coming up. I had actually bought 3 electron one in Pine, one in Oxide(Orange), and one Graphene which is...
