Congrats to Sierracharlie338- PM has been sent with contact info!
To keep this 6UM shooting related, here’s two drop charts at our range at 1000’. One for a 16” 6UM shooting 115 NR DTACs at 3140fps and the other is one of our most common builds, a 24” 300 win mag, shooting 212 ELDXs at...
Another vote for mules, and that’s coming from a guy who makes a living in the horse industry. Tons of great points in this thread of why, but if I can add one, it would be feed efficiency. If you’re spending a lot of time in the mountains, mules just seem to hold their weight/fitness better...
And a fun game for the guys following the 6UM thread…. Guess the width (inches and eighths, ie 20 3/8s), first one to guess or gets the closest by 12/14 at 8pm gets a Procision Arms $50 gift card!
We’ve been playing with a 6UM in our Deadfire steel receiver, 16” Proof barrel and MDT HNT26 chassis, it’s a really cool gun that garners attention everywhere it goes… people can’t believe it’s a gun for adults, capable of shooting 1000 yards 😂
We’ve taken a few orders for short barreled 6UMs...
If you’re comfortable giving subcutaneous injections, pentosan is available through a prescription from your vet. It’s a a weekly injection for a month as a loading dose, then once a month afterwards.
It has a couple mechanisms of action that help in sore/arthritic joints, but the biggest is...
If you weren’t looking for a switch barrel gun, shoot extreme high volumes and go through lots of barrels, or just want a DIY project for yourself, I think most guys are better served getting a barrel chambered and fitted by a competent gunsmith. It ensures you don’t have any fitment issues and...
$1050 is a little salty for a prefit, especially considering the average guy would have to buy some tools to do it.
That’s in the same price range us and many other shops charge to have a gunsmith chamber/install a Proof barrel.
A lightweight backpacking gun we built for a client:
-HNT26 folder
-Proof 22” 6.5PRC
-Swaro Z5 3.5-18
-Deadfire Ti titanium receiver
Weighs 7lb 3oz with a steel 3rd magazine, shoots lights out with Hornady Precision Hunter factory ammo
Have had really good luck with the mountain ridge gear meat panniers, works great with a pack saddle or riding saddle.
Don’t judge the lash cinch- we build pretty rifles, not pretty knots 😂
I agree with a lot of what has been said on here, there is no great solution and it’s uncomfortable at best and potentially dangerous.
I try not to ride with a pack on, but in the times that I have, I always unbuckle my waist belt. I want to be able to get out of the pack or throw it if I need...
Lots of interesting options out there, but at that price point, I would agree with a lot of other posters that buying components and having a gunsmith put it together, to get exactly what you want.
Just back of the envelope numbers-
Proof barrel $800
HNT26 $1500-1700
Pierce receiver $1000...
We’ve started an almost identical swap for a client, don’t anticipate any major issues.
It may need a different magazine, but expecting everything else to be straightforward.
Our website only has what we call our “line series” guns; they’re built with custom-level performance guarantees at a discount, but you only have a few stock options to pick from. It allows us to reduce costs and lead times if you want that level of performance but don’t want to wait 12-18...
We have been building the “smokeless” style of muzzleloaders for years- mostly for Midwest whitetail hunters as they are legal in many of those states when a high powered rifle is not. We build on the arrowhead system as well, it has been the easiest, most efficient system we’ve seen so far...
Biothane is a pretty amazing leather replacement. I race standardbreds and pretty much every piece of modern harnesses are made from biothane or nylon. They’re way lighter than leather and require next to no care.
We put them on a horse that’s training 6 days a week, then hose them down and...
Always interesting to see what people prefer, definitely a personal preference. On the track, fillies/mares are definitely tougher to be around and train, but a good one is usually a more profitable horse to have in the barn. I’ve only had one Molly, and I couldn’t tell much between her and the...
