The prism is etched so you can turn it off of battery dies and you still have a reticle. It also doesn’t blur like a red dot. Which is especially helpful if you have astigmatism. Also give you the option of a hold over reticle.

I agree with JJ. It used to have value as a higher degree of optical performance but lost its value when companies started using it on low grade glass.
