    Weed Whackers

Kinda going through the same dilemma but I think I need to Err on the gas side. I do a lot of volunteer trail work and need more life than batteries can give me. My yard alone would be fine with just electric however. I looked yesterday at gas and Damn, they have gotten pricey...Wow. $300+...

    pa tac

While not 7 springs we just finished Broken Bow for the 2nd time. 1. Early nock times rule....less than three hours for us to finish most courses. We did Sitka as an add on on Friday in the afternoon and it took almost 6 hours. We finished right at dusk. 2. I go packless and just use a...

    Tiburon Pants - Kuiu

Yeah, about the same IMO, sorry. Look at Pranas. I have thick thighs and they fit pretty well (and are cheaper too). They are my go to for western early season hunting. The attacks and tiburons stay in the clothes box until the pranas can stand up by themselves....lol

Talk me out of, or into a canoe

Have been around them my entire life. Currently have two kayaks though which really don't get used enough. Have done the boundary waters thing, but mostly it was the perfect boat for the small mountain lakes in the black hills growing up. We had ours rigged up with a small trolling motor and it...

Do nocks stretch or have a shelf life?

Same here, I swap them out periodically and if one fits too tightly or loosely I toss it. Had one the other day that was a bit tight. SHot it anyway and it was a foot high and right at 50 yards. Tossed that nock immediately. Im a bit anal but I even try to make sure the color is the same.

    Affordable elk boots

Sometimes you can find Salomon 4D's on sale in the $150 range. Def stretches your budget but if they fit well, they will last a few seasons. Ive hunted in cheaper Danners, keens, timberlands. Just realize you may only get a few seasons out of them. Mine were all fine until they weren't...

    April 8th Eclipse

Just north of the totality. think we were 96%. Just like the last one. Cool, but certainly not life changing. Only one I have ever seen that I thought was cool was in western SD in the 70's. I was in like 4th grade I think. It was overcast and it got DARK..... Certainly not something I would...

    Scheels coming to Meridian Idaho

Have fun guys! Great store! Have been going to them since the early 80's in the Dakotas. Our store in Tulsa opens this fall. Most of my friends had never heard of them. I am educating!!

    Rapid City, SD

Don't live there but grew up in Sturgis, 20 miles north. May be able to help with some general questions. It's a shitty town, you shouldn't want to live there....lol. Kidding of course. Beautiful area. Hunting and fishing is great.

    Tension release for hunting Elk

Assume you are talking a hinge as most releases can be fired with back tension. I plan to hunt with a thumb this fall for the first time, but trust me, you can command a hinge. Ask how I know...lol. That said, you'd better be really comfortable. I wouldn't do it but people do.

    Bipod or Hunting Pack

I have this as well as a spartan bipod that I carry under my bino harness in a carrier with molle straps. Comes right out easily and magnetically attaches to the rifle. So easy and convenient. Use my pack too. Just nice to have as many tools as you can. I will say, I am pretty solid off the...

Weight Loss For Hunting in 2024

Good deal, Ive done both as well. Some people just have a few problems adjusting to the super low carb intake and paleo kind of eases you into it.

Weight Loss For Hunting in 2024

Might look at paleo before going fully keto. Still lets you have a moderate level of carbs, but stay away from processed foods and seed oils. That said, I had a rough week. Got plenty of exercise(80 miles on the bike), but diet sucked. Still down 10 lbs but need to get after it this week...

    Venture Divide 2000 vs 3000

I bought the 2k just for this. It has plenty of room for me. I use it scouting and TAC too. The divide pocket is perfect for tripod with spotter/bino's attached. It expands well. Ive done 2 day work trips with it alone.

Tikka vs Seekins 7 PRC - build help

    Rifle for elk hunting

300wm here. I have a 1903 (30-06) Springfield that my grandfather sporterized that I would love to take out at some point. It still shoots really well for being 80 years old
