    Wildlife Artwork

So, while he does not do wildlife primarily, my favorite "western" artist is Jon Crane lives in the Black Hills and mostly does scenery watercolors and buildings. He does a lot of old cabins and mining stuff in the western US. Most of the people I know in SD have at least a piece or two of...

    Micro Stabilizer Setup Opinions

To be fair, I took the side stab off my previous bow for the '22 season. I was trying to lighten my setup up a bit. The longer stabs allow for that some. I am currently running 3 oz up front and 7 in the back for 3d and target, but usually drop some of the weights off prior to and during hunting...

    FCS Playoffs

Gotta root for the Jacks guys, being a SD native and most of my family that have gone to college, or at least completed college, went to SDSU. I didn't honor that tradition and went out of state, although spent a lot of time on that campus in the day with my brother. They are on a pretty...

    Micro Stabilizer Setup Opinions

I have not hunted with these stabs yet, but my old bee stingers were almost as long by the time you added all the quick releases and weights, etc.. Never had any issues with those. I don't treestand hunt a lot any more and mostly spot and stalk. Longer stabs have never been an issue to me...

    Lightest weight higher end scope

I have been looking for alternatives as well just in case and just started looking into Nightforce. My brother has a Zeiss he really likes. We have a bunch of older Leupold scopes that still work well.

    Lightest weight higher end scope

All good. Guess I am lucky so far :) Ive got several pcs that are still rock solid. This scope, a viper I have on my AR. A couple of red dots, and my Razor spotter. Man I guess I do have a bunch of vortex stuff....lol.

    Lightest weight higher end scope

Just curious, do you have personal experience with issues? I am certainly not a vortex fanboy, but have several items and have not had problems at all. My understanding is good warranty service though I have yet to use it. Not saying it's the best glass but I have no complaints.

    Lightest weight higher end scope

So while I don't consider it high end, I have a 1st gen Vortex razor LH 3 x 15 that weighs in at 16 oz. It has decent optical quality and meets the lightweight criteria. The LHT's are a bit heavier as they run a 30MM tube versus 1", but Ive not had issues with it out to 700 yards (at the...

    Perfect bowhunting pants

Ive got several types of KUIU pants but only reach for them when my Prana Zions stand up by themselves.

    Fitness equipment

Ive got an indoor bike trainer that I use quite a bit and really want to look into a rowing machine. Im kind of put off by the monthly sub price though at like $44 per month. I pay 15 right now for zwift and that seems to be the sweet spot. I also have dumbells and a pullup bar so that helps...

    Kuiu vs Mystery Ranch Packs

Ive got the Icon Pro 6000. Seems like they change the naming convention a lot. It's been a decent pack. Admittedly, I haven't tried any of the other "premium" packs other than to just try them on so don't have a frame of reference, but it packed 80+ lbs well enough for me when packing out my...

What to upgrade first: boots or backpack?

brother hunted with an Osprey for many years. I hunted with a crappy pair of Keens for 3 years. 1st two were ok, 3rd year wrecked my feet, badly, I had a great pack but would have gladly traded it for some good boots that third year.... Ive got Crispi's now, but Salomons served me well for...

    Seekins Havak PH2 vs….

I was not impressed with the springfield action. There was a ph2 in 6.5 cm in our gun shop used with rings for $1500 the other day. I was sooooo tempted. I don't particularly care for the cartridge but it has a lot of advantages. I would like to try a 6.5 PRC however. Mine is a 300wm and...

    Seekins new chassis

I'm a Seekins guy. That said, looks functional but ugly as sin! Some oddball hybrid of a chassis and a standard stock. Edit... Not saying I wouldn't get one, I'd just have to hide it :)

How long did you hunt before you went for an elk?

Shot my first muley buck at 12 in 1979. Didn't hunt elk until 2003 at 36 years old. We had elk in SD but hard to get a tag and low population. My dad shot a spike when I was in HS and we thought it was the coolest thing.

    300 win mag options

FWIW, I have found that I shoot much better unbraked than braked with my 300wm. IDK, but the recoil seems much more controlled w/o. I was all over the place with the brake and it recoiled funny, pushing up and right (and yes it was clocked properly). OP, really if you can save up a bit, sell...

    Any Turnpike Troubadours fans here?

I just recently started listening to Meateater, and podcasts in general. im in the car 2 hours a day and my old car didn't have carplay so it was a pain to listen to them, but golden now I kind of like Cams better, but enjoy the banter lf Meateater. You are right, steve does tend to talk over...

    Any Turnpike Troubadours fans here?

Not a fan of them, even though I am an Okie...kinda. Good podcast though. The song at the end was really good.
