    Optic suggestions:

Tunneling will effect the calulation when using the lowest mag FOV spec. The highest mag FOV spec is more susceptible to rounding errors. I usually average the results in the hope that is the more accurate number. But if the scope tunnels I'll just use the highest mag FOV spec.

    Optic suggestions:

Ive I've made similar tables to this but use the magnification settings of 3x and 10x for my comparisons. There looks to be some errors in your calculations. The PST 12x, 2-12 Helos 5x, Ares 5x and XTR 5x, all don't seem right at a quick glance.

Why I like pic rings, and having a spare scope.

I moved to pic rail and rings on everything quite a few years ago. Just so much easier to try out a different scope of a rifle or even use multiple scopes on a single rifle. I used to have the Talley rings on all my Tikka's then JnP adapaters with Burris signature rings on my rimfires, it was...

Bonding a picatinny rail to an action

Yes it did, confirmed by repeating the rest with the scope removed and dropping the rifle. The NF rings usually return to zero perfectly but was getting lateral shifts all over the place. Will try as you said and re-attempt the drop test.

Bonding a picatinny rail to an action

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was referring to a bonded action in a Bravo.

Bonding a picatinny rail to an action

Have you done a similar thread on how you bonded your KRG Bravo? I attempted a drop test the other day with my T1x and a PST Gen2. Everything survived the 18" drops but at 36" ran into problems, after some troubleshooting discovered it was the action in the chassis. If I were to go down the...

    Images: Hunting with KRG Bravo

I think all the Bravo needs is to loose some weight from the rear. It's easy to add the weight back in if you want it but on a light contour barrel rifle it ends up very rear heavy. Not sure if it's easily doable but I'd like to see the aluminum back bone be completely separate from the...

Glass comparison Mark 4 and VX-5hd

I've had both scopes and the VX5hd is worlds apart. The glass is better, the FOV is wider, the eyebox is less sensitive. I had a VX5hd and a VX6. The VX6 tracked well, in the VX5hd the clicks were quite calibrated correctly but tracking was reliable. I would never buy a Mark 4 scope in 2023...

    Any info on Apex Optics?

I'm surprised this scope hasn't gotten more traction on this forum. Seems like its what everyone has been asking for in a FFP hunting scope. I'm not keen on the reticle either (big centre dots makes zero sense for any application IMO) but it could certainly be a lot worse.

I thought the contrast was funny, its a very nice looking rifle. Do you shoot NRL hunter with it? I'm guessing its a pretty heavy setup, too light for PRS so must barely be under 16lb?

    Whats the best of Vortex?

Vortex has a lot of models in a lot of price ranges. Their lower end stuff is kinda garbage, the HST line was not bad when it first came out but is pretty lacking now, Anything above the HST is ok IMO and worth considering. I really like the PST Gen 2 scopes and some of the PST Gen 1 models...

    Tikka/KRG Bravo Question

I like the Bravo chassis but it is definitely rear heavy. Not so much that it’s unwieldy but the rifles balance point will likely end up right on the magazine.

Love the carbon fibre barrel and 3lb Razor combo…. Nice looking rifle though. Is that the 3-18 Razor?

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

I understand what you/these drop tests are saying. I think you are missing the point I’m trying to make. No point derailing this thread any further though.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

I didn't miss that point, its just I find the drop tests entirely believable but the loss of zero from a mere road trip not so much. In theory doing a long term road trip with my rifles/scopes should be fairly easy to conduct. It'd also be less easy to write off from skeptics. It's easy for...

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

Pretty much the only online forum I frequent these days is Snipershide, not really sure that counts as sheltered or not... Anyway, if I end up devising a test and doing so I'll be sure to report back.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

Maybe I don't hang around with enough funds, but I can’t say I've ever thought about re-checking zero after traveling. Admittedly since I've been doing competitive shooting for a good 6 years now I tend to not bother conversing with fudds anymore as it does my head in.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

I appreciate drop tests are easy to do. Its this "road test" that is the most surprising to me, and the hardest to replicate without driving down forestry roads daily.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

Based on that video it kind of is the equivalent of the rifle just laying on the back seat, the rifle is getting shaken and bumped around a bit but hardly being abused. Which again I find incredible how little it takes to shift the zero on some of these scopes. I'm trying to think of ways I can...
