I would like to buy a scope like in the OP, heck I'd even just Iike to be able to find a used LRHS/LRST.
But realistically the only way this is happening in less than 12 months is with an existing base model, and as far as I'm aware nothing meets all of the specs in the original post.
But a big market for a single scope company (like Maven) isn't enough to get an OEM (like LOW) to spend precious time developing the worlds most perfect 3-12x40 scope, when they could develop the perfect 1-10 LPVO or 5-30x56 scope and sell 10x as many of them.
OEMs have limited man hours...
You have no idea how many scopes they've sold though.
If they just ordered the minimum order allowed from LOW and they are only arriving 20 at a time then that'll explain it.
There is also a huge amount of hype built up around that scope, thus a huge number of people wanting to buy one. There...
I think scope company's like Maven, Vortex, Nightforce etc, need to embrace the market, but an OEM isn't going to, at least not one like LOW. They have to make a product that will appeal to dozens of different companies and will be in the market for 5-10 years, they aren't going to...
The Maven/Weaver 2-10x38?
Or the Trijicon/Weaver 2-10x36?
Neither of these scopes meet all the specs outlined, nor does the LRS 3-12.
For the most part you can't go to an OEM and say I want X scope, with X changes, example; the Trijicon 2-10x30 but with adjustable parallax, 10mil turrets and...
Theoretically or realistically?
Realistically there aren't any OEMs that offer a scope that meets these specs and getting a custom design is going to cost too much/require more units than what Rokslide members will be to commit too.
Even if a new design could be justified and an OEM found who...
I think the PST Gen2s are all excellent scopes, I've spent a lot of time with all models except for the 2-10.
I've got a lot of mileage behind my 3-15 and it's one of my favorite scopes.
The only thing I don't like about it is the exposed windage. I've taken to taping the turret now but just...
What scopes have terrible eye boxes these day? The last scope I had that was bad was a Vortex HST but I sold that years ago.
I haven't seen a scope that had a truly bad eyebox in a quite a while.
Unfortunately Leupold doesn't seem to do any reticles other than Duplex, or Firedot in the 2-10/2-12 scopes.
They used to do a few reticle options that would've been perfect.
The Firedot on 2x is perfect for hunting 20-50yards, but no hold overs.
LPVOs with a true 1x don’t exist with an obj lens larger than 28mm, obj lens size is a design restriction with a 1x magnification.
As you’ve pointed out 1.5-6 the best you’ll do (or something like the March 1.5-15).
Personally I think unless you are room clearing 2x is more than enough on the...
Doesn't sound like it, if they thought there was a market for it they would've done that model now.
People have been asking for an FFP 3-15 LHT ever since that was launched, but I'm guessing it's a very small number otherwise an FFP version of this 3-15 would've been a nice alternative.
Holding wind is safer/fool proof, but dialing is potentially more accurate.
I've never seen anyone hold wind in the wrong direction (other than for misreading it) where as have seen people dial wind the wrong way multiple times.
You also have the potential of forgetting you have dialed in some...
Looks like release will be tomorrow, there are some models now on the Vortex website but nothing FFP.
It's a Viper HD line which looks to be a lightweight version of the PST G2.
If they don't mess up the reticles this could be a sweet scope.
I've had a few different models, including a 3-15 that I've now owned since 2019 and have used a lot.
I rate the PST G2 line pretty highly, they've gone up in price a bit recently but used to easily offer the best bang for the buck. I still think they are a good option but there are some...
Ilya Koshkin did a recent live stream where he said the fixed scopes should be out by summer, other than the 10x HD
These scopes are all made by Kenko optics which unfortunately means the 3-9 (made by LOW) isn’t included.
So goodness knows when that'll be out.
What are you intending on practicing with the training setup?
Would you be able to achieve the same thing with a 22lr or 223 trainer?
A 22lr trainer is definitely the best money you can ever spend as far as learning to be a more proficient shooter. The only thing you can't learn is recoil...
