I can’t wait for stabilized binos with equal FOV to better binos. I don’t even feel like I need better glass given the power of stabilization so was disappointed to see the new HDX pro has a slightly smaller field of view but better glass. Yeah I would appreciate better glass but it is not the...
I’ve been having a terrible time getting copper bullets(190LRX and 190CX) to shoot so going back to lead. My load of 66gn H4831SC under a 215 Berger at 3.290 COAL(throated +0.100) shoots mostly 1 hole and 3/4 inch overall so I have a pretty good thing going. The 212 ELDX didn’t shoot as well for...
I have the Mountain Hardware Bishop Pass 0 and it delivers incredible value. I’m very happy with it. It’s 3lbs 2oz so just barely heavier than the premium bags but is half the price of many bags as it retails for $325 but you should be able to find it for less.
If you really want to save weight...
Mine also don’t look perfect but I just make sure to follow my process and I trust they are good to go.
1. Pull out chunks and rinse
2. Scrub
4. Rinse again making sure to ring them out
3. Rinse one more time for good measure
4. Wash on hot with detergent
5. Soak in bleach solution for 8-24...
I also hate how if you don’t draw the general you don’t even have a shot in the LE.
If I didn’t already have a bunch of points in MT I would not start applying there and would not recommend others do it. The system just feels slimy to me.
Especially as an FNG, you are not likely to get many recommendations on places. I think what @j_volt gave you is very good advice and probably the best you are going to get.
Be aware there are quite a few rifle hunts that open on October 15th so someone could shoot a ram you are watching then.
Units 184, 202, 204, and 207 open October 15.
If your unit has viable areas away from Ag fields I have found there to be a lot less pressure there. It seems most people are drawn to Ag areas since the highest density of antelope are usually there.
I love finding them up in the mountains. Pressure in the valleys probably also pushed them up...
I was just on an archery hunt a few weeks ago and we have a good afternoon rainstorm. As it was ending it definitely made the deer start coming out very early in the afternoon when they never would have otherwise had. I spotted 13 deer in 15 minutes at 3pm.
As everyone said it is great for stalking but the caveat is good luck finding animals. They will likely move less, stay hidden, and you won't be able to see shit while glassing.
Had my pup rip the pads off his front feet from running on too sharp of rocks. Didn't need to take him to the vet, just wrapped them up and kept the Neosporin on them. I was amazed how he didn't even act fazed and just kept going then I noticed blood on the ground.
Lots of 2 and 3 year old bucks running around NV right now. Got within 150 yards of some nicer bucks but couldn’t get a clear shot. Ended up taking this small 3x4 but it’s a trophy to me as it’s my first muzzleloader buck. Bonus photo of my buddies deer from the trip of similar size.
Very special moment for me today. Used a family heirloom to take its first animal in my hands. It’s a Savage 250-3000 pre model 99 made in 1906. Had an antelope horns shorter than ears(doe) tag in my home state of NV.
