What is your intent for this rifle? Seems like speed is what you looked for. What are you going to use it for? I’m vote would the 223/5.56 for the variety of bullet options for handloading.
Boy all my rifles are super accurate. Really depends on how Im shooting them on a given day. The one I shot best on most outings is my Ruger American Ranch is 7.62x39. My Tikka T3x 30-06 shoots very well but haven’t found my load for it yet.
I’ve always wanted a single shot. The simplicity and compactness has always intrigued me. Make your first shot count cuz you may not get another. I really like my CVA wolf muzzleloader and I’ve been tempted to pick up a scout in 44mag or 350L.
I wouldn’t say you were under gunned in any of those situations. Over gunned perhaps but that’s not a big deal. 30-06 would killed whitetail in most situations within 400yds and has been for over 100yds.
Mine I inherited from my grandfather. Is a 1934 Winchester 94 in 30 WCF (30-30win). Gave it to me when I was 18 the day before deer season. First day I shot a fork (second deer ever) and the second day I got a 8 point. I don’t carry it much anymore because is super nice and want to keep it that way.
Yeah the hunting is pretty poor with high pressure, low numbers and CWD. Not sure why we hunt it.
Thanks for the info and like I said earlier just using this as an example for tips to use other places. I actually live 2.5 hrs NE of there. Next time I’ll remove the names.
