You are essentially shooting slugs at the ducks. Id switch to a more open choke. The SXP uses invector plus so based on the chart you posted. Looks like your Jebs is tighter then a turkey choke.
Anyone in here hunt will a AR?
I built one in 350Legend a few year back and had a bunch of issues with feeding. But I got that figured out for the most part.
Now the real question.
What trigger are you running for hunting? One or two stage?
Currently have a cheap mil spec that I actually...
I use 3” 2s for everything from early teal to late season geese. Sometimes I switch to 3.5” 2s in the late season.
Also I like to buy my shells by the case. So I like using on size for everything.
I’ll run 3” BB for snow geese in the spring. Range is typically farther so a little more punch helps.
I bought this kit.

I wanted a complete kit. Wish came with a pouch or two. But it’s complete and ready to climb. I actually found it 2 weeks ago for 25% so it was $323.
I’ve been duck hunting 8-9 years now. I’ve tried Boss bismuth and yeah they work very well if your are shooting well but if you are missing all I see is dollar bills going down range.
I’ve been using the federal power shok or the Winchester superXs for most my years. Normally in 3” 2s for the...
Just to clarify. You went 308 because of the greater factory ammo available? Which isn’t an issue for her now because you’ll reload for her?
If that’s the case I strongly agree with you. 7mm08 is an amazing cartridge and will definitely take whitetail and black bear BUT the factory ammo...
Pretty nice rifle but I have two questions.
What happens if/when she grows out of that stock?
“future availability of a handloader”
What do you mean by this statement? I load both the 7mm08 and the 308. I have no issues finding components for either.
For factory ammunition the 308 will...
My grandpa had a rem 700 in 6mm Remington. My cousin now has it. I got all grandpas reloading stuff and I found out he really liked the spicy loads. The rifle has quite a bit of bark.
A tikka compact in 7mm08 or 6.5 creedmoor would be a great forever rifle.
I have a 243. It’s short, light and accurate.
I forgot to mention the compacts do come with a spacer to extend the stock to full length.
Why is it always we (people you never met) that have to talk a grown man ( at least I assume) out of spending his own money on a rifle that’s already bought that is probably going be chambered in a 6.5, 7 or 300PRC?
I believe the seekins are chambered in 6.8 western so that would be what I...
For $38 the limbsaver is an easy investment into your shoulder. Takes it down quite a bit. I’ve bruised my shoulder as well with mine.
I just picked up a suppressor and I’m going to be sending mine in for threading soon.
Good luck on your hunt!
I’m sure you already bought the rifle but I just found this thread and thought I’d give my two cents. This is the exact criteria (even the northern Minnesota part) I bought mine for. I bought the stainless steel with a Burris 2.5-10x42 in DNZ game reaper low mount. 7.3lbs. Highly recommend a...
Another vote for the 130TTSX. I’ve loaded them for my wives ruger with a stout load of BL-C2 it’s pushing 3150fps. I could get them to shoot 3/4” groups and she is doing 1.25” which is good enough for the property and ranges she hunts.
Oddly enough i couldn’t get my tikka 30-06 to push them any...
I don’t hunt archery and if the grouse season is open I’m going. Fall is too short to be concerned if I may hurt someone’s feels. Granted I tend to move to the next trail if I find a truck at the parking spot. You beat me there it’s your spot.
I typically hunt whitetail and duck NE MN. 85% percent of the time I’m alone. I tend to be more successful alone and have noticed you are way more careful. No one is there to save you.
I like the solitude.
