    Glock 23 gen 5 conversions

40s are fine. I don’t shoot mine much apart from USPSA limited. Probably what I would carry if I wore a badge and someone else bought my ammo. FWIW I have a threaded KKM barrel I swapped into a g17. Originally, I thought it would be fine to swap between that and factory, but It was...

Does “any pattern” include a hydro dipped image of Ryan’s face all over the stock? Asking for a friend.

    Glock 23 gen 5 conversions

Not sure about gen 5. There were some slight spec differences for gen 4. see below. I think most people were GTG with a barrel swap for plinking and ranger time but you ma want to get some magazines and swap your extractor for a full conversion (not sure about gen 5 extractor though for 357...

Best Pants for Warm Weather Cactus/Thorns with Kneepads?

I have both the kuiu pros and the corrugate foundry’s. FWIW I tend to like kuiu pants more than most. the foundry’s are fine but the fit just doesn’t work for me. Apart from fit, I found I preferred mesh lined hip vents. Good pants otherwise. the pros seem spot on for what you are...

    Let’s talk Flat Tarps

short answer: DCF isn’t that much bulkier, especially if you compress it or fold/roll it but there are cheaper ways to shave weight. Longer answer: i find the compressibility of DCF is more of an issue with tents or items that are stuffed vs folded or rolled. I fold and roll my main 8.5x10...

    Tundra front end work

It’s a mix. For this, i dont have the tools to compress the shocks. A buddy owns a small shop and he will let me help And buy my own parts. He knows what he is doing but he isnt much for spending money on preventive maintenance, whereas I would rather do it and feel good that I won’t have...

Warmest mid layer hoody for us thin blooded guys?

Been very impressed with both my Sitka ambient and kuiu 97 as mid layers. I think both punch above their weight in terms of warmth. if you want a seriously warm piece, look at the Sitka traverse hoody or jacket. Sherpa lined fleece with a pretty tough outer face. much warmer and more...

    Tundra front end work

Fair point. doing a little more than pads. The guy that put the billsteins in set them on the highest level. The camber is off and it is wearing the outside of the tires. I also don’t like the way it drives. Gonna have it dropped down to factory height. as far as other work, I would...

That’s my thinking. Would like to do whatever is worth doing while it is all pulled apart.

    Small form factor tourniquet

CAT SOF RATS Swat T from people I trust, those seem to be the ones they like. CAT gets top marks. SOF seems to work as well too. The RAT and the Swat T apparently don’t function as well but are more easily carried. I have both. The RAT is sometimes part of my EDC and I carry the SWAT...

    Let’s talk Flat Tarps

FWIW - for flat tarps, I tend to think dyneema is 3x cost and half the weight. I have syl/polly/ nylon tarps of all sizes going back to my +20 year old USGI poncho. They all work fine. My seek DST and Jimmy tarp 6x9 get the most use. However, now that I have a couple of DCF tarps, I...

    Tundra front end work

My 2010 tundra has 175k miles. I did Bilstein shocks and power stop brakes a couple of years ago. It needs pads and while I am at it I am having the shocks adjusted (lowered). anything else I should do while it is pulled apart? someone suggested upper and lower ball joints (With oem...

Sitka kelvin aerolite hood adjusty thingy broke

Sorry it came back. The put a brass grommet on the fabric where the adjustment toggle ripped out. I guess it works fine although youo can’t adjust it one handed. Not theend of the world but sort of “meh” in terms of the quality of the repair.

    Let’s talk Flat Tarps

I run an 8x10 zpacks dyneema tarp. 7oz bare. Hits about 10oz with stakes and lines. They are pricey but fairly durable. I pair it with a 4 oz dyneema ground cloth and I can handle me plus gear or 2 people who want to be cozy for a pound.

I wasnt able to make it this year. Glad it is regaining some steam. Last year it seemed like there were a good selection of vendors but the crowds were a little light.

Anyone use Peleton or similar style bike?

We just did an upgrade on my wife’s bike. She didn’t want a peloton Or anything with an integrated screen. if you dont want a built in screen then top of the heap seemed to be bowflex c6 or schwinn ic4. the bowflex was running deep discounts so we went that way. She uses it more, but I...

    Range bag?

For pistol shooting matches and practice I use a CED deluxe. Backpack style bags are becoming very popular out uspsa and idpa matches in my area. 5.11 is a solid option too. at the risk of losing my man card, I use a foldable wagon for some matches and range shoots When I have to haul a...

Long Rifle Hard Case options?, Case Club...?

Pelican are awesome but $$$$ and heavy. I find myself using $150 iseries SKB cases more often. They aren’t as bombproof but offer plenty of protection and are much lighter than pelicans.

Sitka kelvin aerolite hood adjusty thingy broke

Quick update. Sent my hoodie to them mid January. Was a little concerned that it looked like it was going to some third party warranty place. Got a note today that whatever they were going to do was done and they were sending it back. I would say a 4 week response time is fine for a...
