Their optical evaluation of the Vortex is intriguing as they rated it better than the Maven and equal to the Swaro. Obviously it was not a numerical equivalent, but they rated it "excellent". I agree with other posts that it would be awesome to see how it stacks up to the little Kowa.
I run a 3.5-15x NF NXS on mine. Modern muzzleloaders are truly 500 yard killing machines and the stout recoil can justify a quality scope.
That being said, you certainly don’t need to spend that much money to be happy or successful.
Environmental conditions will affect your viewing distance more than the glass quality will.
You'll easily be able to see elk at 2-3 miles with that spotter, but seeing that there are elk vs. seeing the antler quality of the bulls is a different conversation.
I run a 30-60x wide angle lens on...
I have shot a lot of prairie dogs. A 6-24x scope is tough to beat but I shoot 95% of mine at 14-16x because of the larger FOV and the less visible mirage.
It's not a bad idea to throw your nicest optic on your rifle for a prairie dog hunt and then swap it back over to your hunting rifle in the...
I still own my 8x32 EL and take them occasionally depending on where we're hunting. In really close quarters I prefer the 8x but it's rare that I am hunting tight timber like that. Even in the tight timber, the 12x aren't unmanageable but I prefer the smaller form factor of my smaller 8x.
I own the 12x and they are phenomenal glass but the 10x are definitely easier to get behind. With the 12x I get mini-blackouts but with the 10x it's like putting on 10x HD glasses. The longer I've owned the 12x the less I notice the blackouts but they're definitely still there; I'm assuming its...

These are what I've used. I have no idea why the link asked if it was a robot or human? lol It should take you to Walmart's website.
I have multiple pairs of the wranglers with zero issues but gave up on the Prana after a single bad pair.
The durability of the my Wranglers has truly been a surprise. 100% expected them to be disposable every season.
I would recommend the 4-32x NX8 but just treat it like a 4-24x as the eyebox can get tight above 24x. The NXS is still a great scope but I prefer the FFP and capped windage available in the NX8.
A Mark5 would also be an excellent choice.
The 130's I used had similar size hollow points as Bergers and blew up jack rabbits like crazy. I really thought they'd behave like a Berger on big game, but in my experience they didn't.
Ironically, the only other two bullets I've seen that failed to perform was a Hornady Interlock that didn't...
Found my old ballistics profile and ran the numbers for the elevation and temp I was at that day. Impact velocity of the 130 Golden Targets was 1990 FPS.
I think I misspoke, pretty sure they were 130s BTHP. I'll edit my other posts to reflect that.
I'll try and dig up my velocity data but it was high enough I wasn't worried.
780 yards through the lungs. Absolute pin holes. People who say that any bullet through the vitals will kill an animal are just wrong. With a pointy bullet, the tissue is stretched by the bullet before it actually pokes through, and when it rebounds the hole left over is truly a pin hole...
