8-40 is more of a target scope.
The 4-20 or 5-25 will make a better hunting scope. They have FFP reticles and have illumination options. I used a 3-15x to hunt with for a year and enjoyed it quite a bit.
Having had a MeoPro for a very short while, I don't think it was worth the money. Use that same discount to upgrade to the MeoStar S2 and you'll be VERY happy.
4.5-14x is an awesome magnification range for hunting. I shot a prairie dog at 1400 yards using approximately 14x so it'll do the job just fine on big game.
I had a pierced primer shooting some factory 6.5 Creed ammo and the on the next shot the rifle fired when I closed the bolt. It happened one more time so I called it quits for the day. I went home and cleaned the trigger, put the rifle back together and it's never had a problem since. The...
Mine tumbled down the hill a few hundred yards and broke the ocular lenses pretty bad. Repair time was around 6 weeks (if I remember right) and it was under $120 to get them back to tip top shape.
I have first generation 8x32 and 10x32. The 8x produce a "wow" every time I look through them or anytime I let someone else look through them. The 10x lack the wow factor but are still very nice and in my testing they actually let me see a little bit more detail (due to magnification) even at...
Just get any scope with target turrets and use these:

Out to 4-500 yards they are awful tough to beat. You can obviously use them out as far as you want but getting the correct environmental conditions to line up is tough on those longer shots.
22lr or a nice bb/pellet gun would be awesome. My favorite memories as a child were shooting my bb gun in the backyard. It translated nicely to my 22lr and then to my big game rifles as well.
A small pair of binoculars would go a long ways too. The 8x30 B3 Mavens would let him grow up with...

These are the blades. They work freaking awesome at ripping hide open and they do an excellent job at helping break up joints too, especially in the neck when you're taking the head off.
I have gone to replaceable blade knives for quartering/boning out the animals but I take two separate knives. My Havalon is only used for meat, and I take a Milwaukee folding utility knife with a curved roofing/carpet blade to cut through the hide and break the joints apart. It's the perfect...
I finally took my Ma Deuce out for a quick coyote hunt last weekend. I had some concerns that bag this size would simply be too large for day hunts but I think my concerns were unfounded. Here are a few take aways:
-As mentioned above, all of the lid compartments and the top of the bag are...
