    Sleeping Pads and Insulation type

I’m in need of a new 3 Season insulated sleeping pad and wanted to know if people have real world experience with the different insulation types in the blow up pads. It seems like there are basically two variations… the thin foil sheet insulation or actual thin layers of synthetic fill fiber...

    Stretch my Hanwag Alaska

I’m not sure if the toebox shrunk or not, as I think my foot has changed. I actually had to order my Brooks Ghost running shoes in wide as the D width were rubbing on my pinky toes, and the Timberland chukkas I’m wearing right now are rubbing my pinky toes (they didn’t when I bought them). The...

Freestanding Arch Pole tent vs Trekking Pole tent

Yeah i saw that as well, and it’s another reason I’m seriously looking at the DR DW now. I’ve read the X-miDs are great tents but one ‘con’ that comes up is that if the site isn’t perfect it can be a little more difficult to get a perfect pitch.

Freestanding Arch Pole tent vs Trekking Pole tent

I can see benefit of having the semi freestanding tent for sure, and now I’m seriously considering that Double Rainbow DW…

Freestanding Arch Pole tent vs Trekking Pole tent

thanks for recommending the Double Rainbow, it looks to be a really nice tent as well. Why would you say you wished you had gone that route to begin with? What boxes did it check better for you?

Xmid 1 or 2 mainly will be used for solo hunting

I’m debating this exact same thing Did you compare the Xmid to the TarpTent StratoSpire at all?

Freestanding Arch Pole tent vs Trekking Pole tent

some good questions. This tent would mostly be for spike camp setups a few miles in. I suppose it's possible we could hunt with camp our backs, but most likely day hunts from the spike. I do like having a bit of room in the tent, thus the reason I'm looking at 2p tents vs 1p. I get the...

Freestanding Arch Pole tent vs Trekking Pole tent

Ok, this expands off my other thread about the BA Spur / Tiger Wall vs the Nemo's.... Give me some feedback on the arch pole freestanding/semi freestanding tents vs the trekking pole type shelters (like the Durston X-Mid and the TarpTent StratoSpire). It looks like there could be some weight...

Copper Spur vs Nemo ( and maybe TarpTent) - which one?

Anyone have any experience with the Big Agnus Copper Spur HV UL 2 vs the Nemo Dragonfly Osmo or Hornet Osmo or Tracker Osmo 2p tents? The specs look pretty similar between them. Also I’ve read a lot of good things about TarpTent on here… which TarpTent model would be similar to those tents...

    Recommend a Multivitamin

Anyone got recommendations for a high quality men’s multivitamin? My wife is convinced the daily multi’s you can get anywhere (like Centrum or Kirkland at Costco, etc) are junky and just full of fillers and low quality ingredients… so wants me to try and find something better …. Any suggestions?

    WTS Hanwag Alaska 11.5 Wide

Used last season on 10 day elk hunt, plus hikes in midwest flatland. Under 150 miles on them. Tread still in great shape, leather has the usual scuff marks. Some leather staining on cuff lining from use. Great boots, but the toebox just puts a bit too much pressure on my pinky toes for my flat...

I Like my Crispis, but I want a wider toe box

Crispi does make some good boots, but they are probably even better at branding and marketing. They saw the expanding market and put a good plan in place on how to tap into it. If they were completely over priced junk they would be destroyed on forums like this. Granted their product catalog is...

Argali Rincon vs Big Agnes Copper spur style tent

I have a Seek Outside Cimarron, and I’m debating if I want to keep that or go with a freestanding double wall. To me the condensation in the single walls suck, especially the more people you put in them… add sweaty boots and gear and ugh… you are almost forced to use a stove just to keep the air...

    Best Boots for Western Hunting?

Finding a pair can be tough because everyone is correct in that fit is what matters most. And for many it can be hard when you might not be able to try many different brands on locally. Then you are forced to order online which is fine but can be hassle. Do you know much about your foot? Like...

I Like my Crispis, but I want a wider toe box

I have the Summit 1.0 in 11.5D, it’s about the same width as the Hanwag Alaska 11.5W, so it also runs my pinky toe a bit. The Nevadas I have tried on do have a generous toe box, I would say in D width they are D in the instep and arch area but are pushing to a W in the toebox. Lowa Tibets in...

    Zamberlan

Someone had posted a week or so ago in the gear deal thread the link to the Cabelas 960’s on clearance for $259. I checked and one day a pair of 11Wide showed up in stock so I ordered them. Got em this week. I’ve only worn in the house for a bit but I’m glad I went with a Wide. I measure 11...
