For myself and shots I've been present for over the last 5 years, muzzleloader and rifle:
Prone: 16
Sitting: 6
Kneeling: 1
Standing: 1 (laying over a big rock on a bag, can barely be considered standing)
Unsupported: Just one of the sitting shots. A mule deer ran right into me at about 42...
Update on the stays:
SG got back to me same day and advised pounding them down into the frame sheet with a rubber mallet. Apparently they are usually quite tightly fit into the bottom of the frame sheet in addition to the velcro retainers at the top of the frame. I tried this but the stays are...
Has anyone had any issues with their stays popping out of the velcro retainers on top of the pack? I've packed out several animals with mine and this is the first time it's happened to me. The first time was my fault; it happened from bouncing the pack up and down on the ground to get meat to...
That's normal for T7 powder. Changing primers isn't going to affect fowling, it's dirty no matter what. When I used it I used to swab every other shot.
Blackhorn 209 powder will allow many more shots without swabbing if it's legal there.

Pretty sure they'll fit on the front with a tire that small, there's way more than 3/8 of an inch clearance there. Be careful and test them somewhere first. Jack the tires and spin them around, and remember they'll flip out a bit farther with more wheel speed. If you had a locker they'd be very...
Keep us posted on those results.
My first 6 UM barrel was a lot like that. Shot ok at first and then never better than 1.5" by around 50 shots. A bore scope revealed that the throat was toast. Never did decide if it was the +P throat or a bunch of projectileless fire forming that killed it...
63 or 64 grains would probably be on the warm side but fine. 61 grains of H1000 would probably do well, that's on the low side for formed cases. Start with 60 maybe.
This depends a lot on the area. Some will be main trailheads with formal parking areas, maps, signs, etc. Some will just be a turnaround where the road ends. During OTC rifle, all of them will look like a major parking lot. Some people will camp in their vehicles at trailheads, some set up...
My suggestion was made precisely because it is daunting. 90% or more of hunters starting out in your position are unsuccessful year after year. They spend thousands of dollars year after year with a minimal chance of success on OTC hunts. That's a statistical reality. Everyone watching...
My sincere and honest advice, considering your personal history with the idea of western hunting, is to save up and go hunt a ranch with a guide.
If watching YouTube hasn't motivated you to so much as figure out applications, a Colorado OTC rifle hunt is going to be an expensive...
It's about 1/2-1/3 of a comparable white light. I shot one at 200 yards once with the red light and that was really pushing the limits for positive target identification.
My experience with red lights is that coyotes see them just as well as white and spook just as quickly.
In my experience it's worth saving for a low end thermal optic.

It is absolutely causing major issues, and for what? So a bunch of unemployed people can avoid having a real job? It seems to be a pursuit of validation for individuals with no depth of purpose or meaning in their lives. The male version of daddy issues and OF accounts in a hollow attempt to...
